Library system and Bookbinders
What if each individual book added power to the city. But each book decayed maybe every 10 years they would have to be rebinded. Or some thing along those lines. decay time would go faster the more times a book was checked out. This would add a boost to librarys and give book binders a city commision to make more moneh.

With the obscene cost of books now, having them decay in the library is a really, really bad idea IMO. Though as a Bookbinder myself I sympathize with the idea of steady work, I don't think the Library is the right place to make changes. I'd rather see it that Bookbinders are the ones to make letters and the elimination of the message system. Every time you wanted to send a message to someone you sent them an actual message, a letter, provided to you by a bookbinder. That would be steady enough work for me.

I'd like to have Bookbinders able to make letters, or packages, to send groups of items. Letters can only hold 5, and tossing items in a pack, to then put in a letter, is irritating. Bookbinders making letters would be nice, someone could stockpile letters and not have to run to the post to then send something (if they have a mail-delivery pet, though that's also my personal peeve). Packages would be nice as well.

I'd loathe to see the message system go - it is the wonderful alternative and more easily managed way to get information across. It is a pain to have to sort through letters as it is. If it is all going to go to letters, add a LETTERSLIST in Discernment that would list the letter number, a brief caption of the first line or two, along with if it is holding anything. Letters would need a longer lifespan as well.

Example:
CODE
Id       Letter                                                  Items   Gold   Months
108511   Greetings, Tajalli.  It has come to my attention that       0     No        4
108557   I didn't pay you back for the tailoring! Here you go!       3    Yes        2
111148   h...e.... ....l ....i...ttl...yo.r..                        0     No        1

I think that making the books decay in a library after 10 years would be too expensive. Mind you, I haven't done anything as a Bookbinder for ages except magic scrolls, and even then I do maybe 10 an IG year.

I'd like to see decay times on magicscrolls halved, and perhaps a 50-year time on library scrolls or something? Obscenely large enough that everyone's happy with it but a Bookbinder can make ends meet?
