I don't know if it's been suggested but I think that perhaps there should be an aethercraft arena built. It could have a bunch of participants fight in a not-so-large area as aetherspace but large enough to ensure that you can't just open fire at the start.
It would prevent accidents occuring from mock battles that went wrong and would probably interest more people to the art of flying on a ship. I know if I was told as a novice there was a 10% chance I could accidentally get blown up, I wouldn't want to partake in a real battle, while in an arena setting there isn't any loss involved.
Thoughts?

That would be REALLY neat. Maybe have a choice of using your own ship or having a ship lent to you by the arena person for an extra X amount of gold. This would cause people to spend more money on Aetherships and learning the correct abilities which in turn generates credit sales.
Win/win, and it doesn't seem like it would be that in depth to code.

It's been brought up before and I believe it was said it would be difficult to code, but someone who has a better memory than me can clarify that.

It's been shot down three times I can remember. There's probably been more. Roark or Morgfyre said they might be able to have a flag for duels that would make a pk implosion not cost xp and reserves, but they'd have to look into it.

Since aetherspace has planes, it just needs a small plane with a gateway near the Aetherplex, and inside it, implosions would not cost the players XP, ruin the ship's reserves or flashpoints, or cause the ship to dump its holds. You still would lose ship power using aethership skills inside it, but that's an acceptable cost. The advantage of a "pocket plane" is that it could support multiple-ship fights so you could also use it to try out all those cool Empath skills. Consider it the aetherspace projection of the inside of the Klangratch Tourneys.
Where that might get hard to code is the possibility of someone inside this plane being linked by empath tricks to someone outside, or someone using flashpoints to get into that plane, or similar tricks. Preventing things like that is usually where the coding becomes nightmarish.

Tip: The Admin prefer not having to deal with lots of issues. There's a reason for our PK system using Avenger instead of issues.
