Sooo, I just picked up a DS the other night, along with Professor Layton and the Curious Village (which is an awesome, awesome game if you like puzzles). But, what I'm curious about is, can anyone recommend any games?

I'm currently considering:
Mario Kart DS
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin
Sonic Rush
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
Picross
Brain Age
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (but I haven't played Windwaker)
Contra 4
and New Super Mario Bros.

Added:
Elite Beat Agents
Worms: Open Warfare 2

But I can only really afford one new game right now. So, any recommendations from the list? Any games that i'm missing that should definitely be played?

Elite Beat Agents

edit: oh, from that list I would probably get advance wars or castlevania.

Elite Beat Agents does look fun.

My only problem with Advance Wars is that from what I hear, wi-fi battles stick you with random maps which can result in severely broken match-ups.. like one city vs nine. And that's a little iffy for me.

Oh! I forgot Worms: Open Warfare 2

I can't imagine a DS unit without Pokemon....

Though from the above list, I'd say Mario Kart...

Elite Beat Agents was a weird, weird game and kind of disappointing, to me. It was basically just DDR with your hands.

Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass will not only entertain you until you can afford a new game, but it is fantastic fun. You don't need to play Windwaker to play that game. It is not a sequel or anything. It's just sort of set up like it.

I spent forever trying to get everything together for that game. I'm still not done with it!

Phantom Hourglass is a brilliant game, I would recommend that any day.

My only issue with grabbing up one of the new Pokemon games is that I'm an oldschool player. I grew up playing the original Red and Blue, and as far as I know, you can't get a lot of the pokemon from those early games. If you can fill me in on how to grab some of my favs from the original, then I'll be glad to pick it up. tongue.gif

And as for Phantom Hourglass, it is actually a sequel. It picks up right where Windwaker ended. But knowing that none of the story really connects makes me more confident to pick it up.

I was seriously considering Phoenix Wright, but when I was at the store today, I realized I didn't really know what the gameplay was about, and so I couldn't go for it. I know basically, but I realized I never read a review for it, just that it was awesome.

Buuut, I picked up Elite Beat Agents aaand Brain Age, since it was on sale for $10 and was the last copy.

Though, again, I'll definitely pick up Pokemon Diamond if there's a way for me to gain access to the pokemon from Red & Blue without having to own all the games and systems in order to chain-trade them, lol.

Well, there's Pokemon Leaf Green and Fire Red, which are the remakes of Red and Blue. They're for the gba, so the ds can still play them, and you can trade with Ruby and Sapphire(the other gba ones). Apparently you can transfer (not the same as trading) your pokemon from LG/FR to Diamond and Pearl too. All the stuff from the original games are in (even that kid who only says "I like pants!" as he challenges you), but the new areas are pretty boring to play through.

Hrm. That's a possibility then. But it means I have to play though LG/FR just to have the pokemon I want in Diamond, which means needing to buy 2-3 games instead of just one. tongue.gif

But thanks for the info. I didn't know that LG and FR were the remakes of Red/Blue. I'll have to think about that then.

Woo. I suck at Elite Beat Agents. :-P

I'd say Harvest Moon for DS.

But that's only if you're a HM fan.

If not... then grab Pokemon. MarioKart is crappy without other people to play with. D:

Bleh. I just spent the money and picked up Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and Hotel Dusk: Room 215, both of which are out of print, off ebay.

Oh well. Hopefully they're both worth my aching pockets, lol.

The Phoenix Wright series has always been awesome. You will not be disappointed.

I wanted to start from the beginning, but the first one is out of print, so I had to pay a bit more, but oh well. I figure I'll be able to move on to the next two in the series before they go out of print, aaand then pick up the new Apollo Justice series that they're starting.

Edit: Oh, and anyone here have any experience with DS homebrews?
