Druids and robes

I hope this is an OK place to post this...

I'm wondering about the fact that the best armor druids can get is all robes. I've been given a robe by someone in my guild(very generously which I totally appreciate) and it's certainly better than any leather armor I've seen for sale.

But, from an RP standpoint it seems odd to me that someone who lives in the forest would wear a robe. As an elfen druid I imagine myself running quickly and nimbly through the forest. I can burrow under ground and can climb trees... but would you really do all that in robes? I could wear leather trousers and tunic and bracers or something and feel more in character, but would I be sacrificing combat effectiveness(which is important to me, and I hope to get into PvP too) for RP? I'd like to have both..

And then there's the skullcap.. but never mind that for now.

And the final question: am I a complete idiot for even asking this? ohyeah.gif

Greatrobes are a LOT better than leather. If you wear leather, expect your squishy Druid self to be suicidally squishy. (You can also RAISE HOOD on greatrobes)

That said, there's a large variety of greatrobes, and some of them are less robe-like and more leather-like I believe.

One of those things were mechanics > realism.

Ok, so robes are pretty much a neccessity and I should just get used to the idea.

hehe, RAISE HOOD does sound kinda cool.. i guess that helps a bit.

People using acrobatics have run into the same problem, since it's hard to imagine doing handstands, backflips, and whatnot else in long, flowing robes. What you really want to do here if you need to satisfy your sense of immersion and RP is to get on the backs of tailors to make robe designs that are more fitting for such movement - I know there's at least a few specially made "monk robes" like this. Then buy them and wear them, and stop worrying about it. It shouldn't be too hard, honestly, and most trademasters love getting attention. content.gif

Moonlace will take your designs.

That's why trousers need to be worn under robes. Please? don-t_mention.gif

You can design new clothing? I'm sorry, I'm new to lusternia, and I don't understand much about tailoring. I thought there were certain set patterns and types of clothing that you could make. If you can design new clothing, maybe something along the lines of a tight-fitting knee-length robe that has slits up the sides so I can run in them.
Of course I'd kinda want to wear pants under them... even if the pants aren't armor.

Something like this, but in green:

If you can actually design new clothes as Fionn seems to be suggesting then I would be very happy to have something like this made and would be prepared to pay very well for it. Even in credits if that's worth more to you.

Yep, it is possible to design tailoring, jewellery, forging, artisan and bookbinding items.

There are many trade cartels around, and each cartel has a number of design submission slots each Lusternian year. Talk to Aramel about Moonlace (the Serenwilde tailoring cartel) about getting something designed.

That's great! I certainly will!

And cooking.

Oops. I always forget about cooking.
