I already submitted something for this month (February), but I kept telling myself I could do better for March's contest.
This is better, trust me. I doubt that my entry for this month will even get runner-up.
This is freestyle, so it doesn't always rhyme (What? Not all poems rhyme? OMGWTF) but I tried to convey strong emotions. In case my wording is unclear, it's about a Nihilist woman who is lonely with her current situation and goes for a walk to try to find some solace, and a Celestian man who feels much the same way and does the same thing. They meet, and it is understood that they become either lovers or good friends. Also, I'm considering adding a bit more to the end to further that point.
She walks through the streets of the Capitol,
Seeking what? She does not know.
In her work, knowledge she sought to extol,
In order to grow
To better serve her Demon Lords
And Demon Lady too.
She sought this power so
That her enemies would lie low,
And her foes would be far and few.
In the darkness of Magnagora,
Nihilists took her under their wing,
They told her that these Lords and Ladies
Ruled and watched over everything.
Though her mentors were watchful and harsh,
And her citymates doubly thus,
She put on a smile, and continued the march,
Bearing her onus.
Yet it seemed, in the Megalith's dark pall,
That no one saw her at all,
People were civil to her -
But no one really knew her,
In her own darkness she started to fall,
The Lords and Ladies she began to doubt,
In despair, from Magnagora she went out.
Not leaving the City's dark embrace,
But perhaps just looking for some space
To let her thoughts surround and abide
To let her true feelings that she'd tried to hide
Walk with her, towards the west.
Walk with her, unkowingly, towards New Celest.
Far off in that City of Light,
A young man suffered a similar blight.
Celestine was his Guild,
Yet his guildmates seemed chilled
Towards befriending this eager young man.
His tasks he pursued with ardor,
But it seemed someone always worked harder,
He was only another young priest.
Not anyone special, not in the least.
Did anyone truly know him?
Did anybody care?
He pondered on these questions
Within the City fair.
One day he decided he'd go on his way
Not leaving the Guild, saying he'd be back one day,
His citymates bade him a brief farewell,
As he left, he heard the clarion knell
Of the Cathedral's mighty bell
A tear fell from the cheek
Of the young human, so meek
His mentor had not seen him off,
He'd had more "pressing business."
The human priests, male and female,
Each headed towards the unknown,
Their thoughts laid out as plain as day,
Their souls worn proud for all to see
They mused out loud, each speaking free
Of their inner doubts and sadness
At not being seen
"They see my face, they don't know me."
"I do all I can, but they show me
How I could always do better."
"The Lords and Ladies care not
For a meek one such as I."
"The Supernals, do they notice?
Do they see how hard I try?"
She looked up from the hard, dry ground
Thinking a kindred soul she'd found.
He looked up into her blue eyes
As deep as the Pool of Stars.
She said, "Hello," and he bowed low
Humbled to have found a beauty so
Similar to himself.
She turned a scarlet shade, and said,
"Please, my friend, raise your head.
There's no need to bow so low
To one whom nobody knows."
He smiled and looked at her again,
He said, "You honor me, my friend.
Let us walk, and know each other,
Let our stories be told,
Let the day grow old
If that's what must happen
For me to know you."
She was shocked by the admission,
Her face radiated deeper crimson,
She replied softly to him,
"I would want nothing more
Than just one to adore
What I do, who I am, not
What I might have done, or
Who I might have been.
Let us travel together, my friend."
The two young souls now intertwined,
In each other they did find
The love they each had sought.
This is better, trust me. I doubt that my entry for this month will even get runner-up.

This comes... way too late, but I like it. Just wanted to note that. I had thought out some constructive critisism when I first read it but... uh, I forgot. Anyway, regardless, me like. You did fine with this.

I submitted it already, but thanks. If nothing else, I'll bombard the judges with it until I win - I worked way too hard to let this not get me anything!

Okay, instead of starting a new thread, I'll use my old one. Ahem...
Title: Memoirs of a Ninjakari
My dear Brethren, my time has come.
I have seen many battles, though remaining unseen.
I have laid low my foes, though they did not know their assailant.
But now, I, too, have felt the pull of Atropos on my chain.
I, too, shall fade, unknown, unseen.
My dear Brethren, serve well in my stead.
Keep to the shadows, stay in the silence.
May our chain stay unbroken through the test of time,
May our links, from Mukyu to Sohei, be unwavering.
May the Ninjakari be known, and also unknown.
My City, Magnagora,
Many times have I returned from the Halls of Fate.
But now, I put aside these ties to the mortal frame,
And I take my chances in the next life.
I regret my departure, but it must be done.
My family, my friends:
It has ended. The time has come.
Daughters and granddaughters, be fruitful and raise my posterity.
Sons and grandsons, be courteous and brave, and bring glory to your name.
And my dear friends, mourn not; I have always lived in darkness, and I shall rest therein.
I think it needs some tinkering, but I don't want to drift from the melancholy theme of "simple life, simple death."
So, suggestions would be very much appreciated.
