Radiating outward at precise intervals like the spokes of a wheel, eight thick threads flow outward, each massive enough to support the weight of many men. Not solid structures themselves, these strands are formed of tiny webbing woven tightly in a multitude of layers, hiding whatever lies beneath within their opaque grasp. Settled within the branches of an ancient and skeletal tree roosts a murder of crows, their voices harsh and deafening as their caws peal through the air. Cascading gently down from the night sky far above, the swirling darkness of the Shadowfalls pools into a tranquil lake of midnight black. Someone's magically-preserved letter has been lost here. A raven spider lurks here patiently, waiting for its next victim to become ensnared in its web. Crouched on delicately shaped legs, a glass widow spider waits here ready to pounce.
