to bash or not to bash?

Hello!

I have a character around level 85. I've been wondering, do you think its worth it to try and bash to titan/demigod? I cant really afford artifact runes. Maybe a rune of absorbstion, but not much else. I've been playing lusternia for awhile...and I want to feel like I "accomplished" something before I stop playing the game. I never really was a good pvper, mediocre at best. I wont ever be raised as an ascendant, so thats out of the question. I have a decent race and guild for bashing, so I'm not complaining about that. Is the time and pain really worth it? I'll be able to dedicate a few weeks to it soon if I decide to go through with it. This post is mainly directed towards the titans/demigods out there.

bump.

Don't bump after like 11 hours...someone will probably respond eventually.

Until they remember who it is.

Bashing to Demigod was the best thing I did for my character. It's insanely powerful, and it is indeed a large sense of accomplishment. And best of all it does not take much time at all, 4-6 hours of bashing a day, switch it with 1 hour of astral and 1 hour of undervault, repeat, and you should hit Demigod within a span of 2-6 weeks, depending on how good your bashing is. I was a Mugwump Nihilist, and the bashing was insane due to quickening + symbol strike, and Rune of Absorption, Rune of Shielding, and a level 3 critical pendant.

You're really far away, so unless you bash really hardcore like Thoros, Geb, Catarin, etc. its going to take you ages to get there. Probably too much work if the only reason you want it is as a goal to achieve before quitting. It maybe took me a year or so to get from 85 to 99, though I bash really slow.

Bashing to titan/demigod(dess) certainly has its perks and can be enjoyable. However, I think it is only particularly so if you plan to stick with the game and get as deeply involved with things as you can. And since you cited this as the reason for your asking...

... then I would have to say no. Demi status is a great thing to do for a personal sense of having done something and for making yourself more useful to your community in a number of ways, but it's not something terribly unique or unusual. If you just want to do something for yourself, then this is certainly an option, but it will be a very time consuming one. If you want to feel "accomplished" more in the sense of impact on the game world and having an effect in that way, you might consider trying to do some of the more rarely pursued quests instead (raising Marani Veloske, the major undervault quests, Soulforge, etc.). All of these quests will be major efforts and time investments, but no where near to the point of bashing to demi, and you're far more likely to have a feeling of going out with a bang doing these, I think.

Read about the ascendant thrones and see if you would like participating in that system.

If you plan to just leave the game after achieving Demigod, I wouldn't do it heh. Would be just a waste of time. However Demigod is the best thing you can do for your character if you like to bash, influence, debate, and participate in group combat. Everything all around of being a Demigod is just..godly. tongue.gif Level 3 health regens, +3 to all stats, it really does help. Though the only thing that really helps at those types of things is just practicing and learning to get good. Except bashing. Anyone with a brain can do that.

Edit: Oh what Vendetta said, if you want some great sense of achievments I would look at the insanely hard quests in the game (Undervault, Soulforge, Marani, and Castle Djarrakh.)

I've done alot of stuff in lusternia. I've done many of the hard quests, I've fought and won in battles that might have seemed hopeless. I've made countless friends, some of whom I now know well on an ooc level. I've had adventures and made adventures. I've explored almost every single part of the world. I've read all the histories. I've won all the games like freezetag, slippers, free for alls, wargames, etc. I've designed in-game items. I've won special competitions no one else did. Nothing monumental though!

When I think about the MONTHS of my life I've invested in the game... I look at my character with ambivalence. One part of me is just pissed that I didn't do anything really impactful. Another part of me says I should try and push my character a little more (even if that means grinding alot), just to set him apart. So I can look back when its all said and done and say to myself or my friends, "I was a titan".

Thanks to anyone who posted, its given me a bit to think about.

edit: I guess the question that keeps popping up in my head is...how do I win?

You can't. Only one person thinks they can beat the game, and they fail miserably at it.

There is so much other stuff you could do with your life than spend it mindlessly bashing to get to level 100 on a game you're bound to quit anyways. Part of me is pleased I got Demigod, but that was back when there were like none around so I was one cool cat. Now though, I look back and think... damn. That is so much time and effort. If I had worked some overtime, or concentrated more on my studies, or tried hanging out with my friends instead with that time, I would be much happier. I say, no sir, don't go for it. Of course the decision is yours and everyone has different values in life, I just can't advocate such a thing
Krellan2008-03-24 18:59:44
also depends when you bash. I was bashing from midnight to 5 am or later for the most part. I mean all I lost was sleep.

I agree with the sentiment (and sarcasm) of the above statement.

Do you have a wife/family?

That's what keeps me devoted to not going for demi/titan. I want to spend time with my wife!

Heh, not that you'd know much about it, Mr 3-5 am raider. You must sleep through life.
