Well, this is an embarrassing question, but I've been trying to go around Delport helping people out, but I'm not really sure how to collect wood, pan for gold, skin an animal, or fish. Am I supposed to get equipment for all that, or are there commands for all that?
Arix2008-03-27 22:14:50
Dunno about the gold, but you can kill the fish, cows and sheep to bring them to butchers/leatherworkers/fishmongers
Noola2008-03-27 22:18:41
Try giving the hay you might see laying round the village to a cow or sheep too! Wood's a little tricky cause you've gotta chop a tree to get it.

Grotesque Ravenwoods in Glomdoring are creatures that can be killed. They drop lumber which = wood at lumber dealers.

On another note, I wholeheartedly support a system of 'mining' mountain/cave areas for metals that could be refined and turned into metallic comms at a forge or other intense heating facility. 'Cos metal is just way too expensive and way too rare.

I didn't know that! Nifty! smile.gif

As a sidenote: those with the Hunting skill can catch fish.

I'm a Hunter/Tracker. All my traps involve wood, so I know a lot about it. I'm also a very technical person, I love finding out nifty things about systems.

Heh heh, I gots wood ohyeah.gif

Edit because I'm spam posting: Axelords and those with enough skill in Environment can CHOP down trees to generate more lumber. However, in the forest communes there are laws prohibiting this practice in favor of Mulching the trees via Druids.

That being said, there are plenty of areas where the occasional tree grows. I often check Faethorn for developed trees and take tours of the 'wooded' areas in search of a tree I might've overlooked.

Or if I get REALLY desperate, I use my wolf to sneak into Serenwilde during offhours, chop down a few trees and then run like hell.

Since this is a topic about commodities, is there a way to make your own silk/cloth/leather? If there is, I'm in...I hate being gouged...

Edit: If there isn't, there should be.
Everiine2008-03-28 17:00:46
I would very much like a place with trees not connected to a commune and a way to mine metals. Would hopefully drive the cost of the things down.

You can't "make your own" of any village comm, but you can increase supplies of them in villages and work to tweak prices.

Take dead cows or deer to leather workers in a village that has them.

Take live sheep from the mountains to villages with textile mills/shearers (they'll follow if you feed them hay).

Kill silk spiders in Dairuchi or Angkrag (they aren't loyal), which will drop spinnerets which can then be sold back. Note that this will cause a decrease of silk tithes for whoever holds the village in which you kill spiders, so getting caught will probably get you killed pretty quickly. Alternatively, since you're Magnagoran, you can go to Glomdoring and kill the widow spiders that hide in the trees around there, which also drop spinnerets.

You don't have to take spinnerets to Dairuchi or Angkrag, but since they can produce their own, they will always, always have more available, and they will always, always be able to sell it at a cheaper price than taking it to the general store in some other village.

Keep in mind that taking these things in to villages will NOT ALWAYS drop the price immediately. If all of a given commodity in a village general store has been bought out, you might see the price rise dramatically for a while at first. Once you reach a certain point, however (generally around 60-80 of the commodity on the general store's shelves), the price will start to drop down with your efforts.

For the sake of being specific, the lowest attainable prices for cloth and leather from a village general store are 16 gold, and 50 gold for silk.

Also, why is it that both wood and silk are from mobs that live in Glomdoring? Makes it hard as anything for Serens to get spinnerets or lumber from grotesque ravenwoods.

Market Looking to buy an axe.
*wander through Serenwilde, chopping mature trees.*

All the lumber you could want!

Oh, almost forgot! You can also improve the silk production of Dairuchi/Angkrag by moving the silk spiders from one of those villages to the other. Shouldn't be too hard to figure that out, so I'll leave it to those who have interest in it to do that.

Once upon a time, Glomdoring was just another bashing ground, and everyone could just waltz in whenever to get that lumber and silk, along with bats, vipers, wasps, and widows for poisons. But then it became a commune proper, and they kept those mobs, and a new place was never made to house them as well. And that was that.

Not that it's too terrible, or anything. You just need to sneak in there during off-hours when there's a whole one or two people in Glomdoring online, and wait for them to go off-prime.

Yes... there's an entire forested island, with a few patches of swamp. And one building, I think.
Kaguya2008-03-30 00:19:27
For what it's worth, there's also a small section of northeastern Tolborolla Valley that is naturally forested.
