So I have been thinking a lot about city-commune warfare, and like has been mentioned many times before, it will never happen because of Alchemy/Enchantments. Of course the solution as is was to let rogue enchanters/alchemy people do their thing, but the admins, for good reason, have tried not to encourage roguehood.
Then an idea hit me.
Alchemy=Nature
Enchantment=Magic
So why not create a tradeskill like this
Psionics=Shaping
Shaping-
This skill will have two main types of creations, bio-imbuements. and earth-imbuements.
Bio-imbuements are psionic imbuements which give a temporary boost to the subject imbued. These are somewhat treated as tattoos from the other three games, you have one per arm, leg, chest, gut, and head. May only have one per 'area' All bio-imbuements will last a year.
Earth-imbuements are psionic imbuements made onto clumps of gems that create small little baubles. All Earth-imbuements are considered to have 50 ueses in the exception of the three hearts and the emerald clot.
Skills-
Thought Reader- A bio-imbuement that will last a year. Understand up to four languages, decided at the time of imbuement. Head imbuement.
Cold Heart- Earth-imbuement. Rubbing this cold collection of diamonds will act like a frost potion.
Fire Heart- Earth-imbuement. Ruby this warm collection rubies will act like a fire potion.
Secure Aethers- A bio-imbuement, head. Will block infiltrate.
Density- Bio-imbuement, chest. Same effect as BodyDensity.
Blood Cleanser- Earth-imbuement. Collection of emeralds will cure crotamine.
Healing Heart- This single ruby will, when rubbed act as the mercy enchantment, or when swallowed, will heal like a potion. (Not buffed by faeling sipping bonus...) Uses the same balance as healing potions. Rubbing or swallowing it destroys the Healing Heart. (I other words, 1 sip from a healing potion for a healing heart is 1 ruby spent, plus the power used to imbue it, making healing potions better still, but offers a viable alternative.
Heart Dust- Made from 50 healing hearts, it will act like an apply health. Still uses balance.
Meditative Heart- This sapphire, when rubbed will act as the perfection enchantment, or when swallowed, will heal like a mana potion. (Same restrictions as above.)
Smiling Heart- This Jade when rubbed will act as a beauty enchantment, when swallowed will act as a bromides sip.
Emerald Clot- When this emerald is swallowed, bleeding will automatically be blocked for up to 300 bleeding damage.
Aeon Temperament- Made from the combination of a powerstone and quicksilver, this stone will act like a quicksilver potion when rubbed.
Enduring Stomach- This bio-imbuement slows the rate at which someone gets hungry by 50%. Gut.
Active Body- This bio-imbuement will automatically cure a rupture or numbing on the limb it is placed once every 30 seconds. Will cure only when a rupture or numbed limb is given.
Beryl Skin- When this clumb of beryls is rubbed, it will act like a liniment potion.
Garnet Sphere- When this charm is rubbed, it will act like a choleric potion.
Ruby Dust- This must be stored in a vial, and is treated like melancholic. (Apply to chest.)
Powered Stability- This imbued powerstone will act like a phlegmatic potion when rubbed.
Unstunted Force- This bio-imbuement will prevent 'one' stunning blow to the head or chest 15% of the time. Chest or Head.
Crystal Skill- Made from garnet, this skull when rubbed will act like a sanguine potion.
Coral Bone Dust- Like ruby dust, stored in a vial and works like mending when applied.
Pearl Bone Dust- Stored in a vial, acts like regeneration.
True Eye- This bio-imbuement will allow the subject to sense the movement of dreamweavers entering or leaving the room. Head.
Protective Imbuement- This imbuement is unlike all the others, in that it imbues leather, and chainmail, giving them both slightly more protection. (Imbued leather would be better then greatrobe armor (no proofings after all.) and chainmail would come to just less then average field plate. (Again no proofings.) This imbuement can not be done on leather that has been batted.
Trans Ability: Diadem of Thought: adds a 'channel' for psionic users to lock (d).
Skills in no particular order. although I think the progression is decent.

Sounds as if it will just take away from and further thin out the already established economy making tradeskills even less profitable than they already are.
A much simpler solution would likely be the release of neutral mobs to handle such tasks for you at double the cost of players, like Rowena used to do with potions before Glomdoring's guilds.

How you figure out "double the cost of players" is another matter, but if that could be done AND you could get new enchantments on jewellery from nowhere AND communes got some kind of sigil destroying thing, it sounds like a good idea. (Hyrtakos', not Callia's. Why psionics!?)

I picked psionics because both organization groups have access to psions now, and I figured this would be the most interesting way to solve many problems, such as the lack of use of armours other then field and full, cities reliance on alchemy, and the light reliance on enchantments from communes, plus to add so new things that reflect the changing environment of Lusternia from when enchantment and alchemy were drawn up.
I do not think it will damage the economy, in fact it is likely to revitalize it, because there'd be real competition because everyone would have access to the basics of each of the major 'org' tradeskills, and a few other abilities.

There are like 3 psions in Serenwilde...total. That number is likely to decrease in future, not increase. Cities have a small proportion of the monks and a large proportion of the mages. Doesn't seem quite right.

That diadem would make for some seriously OP Telekinesis or Psymet, I think.

People are already forced to undercharge for their goods -- hence less profit. Increased competition would only contribute to further undercutting of one another and serve no real purpose that I can see.
Not to mention that gold given to a mob in return for services is taken from the economy, therefore reducing credit costs in the long haul in some small fashion while still allowing players to make as healthy a living as they do now (and likely even being able to raise prices in contrast to what the mob offers since they'll still be providing it "cheaply")

So, easy fix, pull a bookbinder, each 'earth-imbuement' requires x gold per imbuement. Thus, it will raise the price of enchantments and alchemy that duplicate effects in Shaping, and will actually help those things cost more. We can use this to help a lot of things.
And yeah the Diadem could be a bit much... any ideas?
