I've been pulled in many directions into what should be done to get a good offense.
Such as poisons + aiming for a particular affliction and how to evenly spread out attacks(besides attacking parts at random)

These are the maneuvers I have setup
Maneuver: Strikehead
Action: Hack
Wounds: Behead, sliceforehead, shatterjaw, slitthroat, openchest, crushchest, and snaprib

Maneuver: Strikechest
Action: Hack
Wounds: Snaprib, openchest, crushchest, shatterjaw, sliceforehead, and slitthroat

Maneuver: Swipearm
Action: Slice
Wounds: Amputatearm, crushchest, breakarm, openchest, opengut, snaprib, fracturearm, and laceratearm

Maneuver: Knockdown
Action: Strike
Wounds: Knockdown

Maneuver: Gut
Action: Slash
Wounds: Severspine and opengut

Maneuver: Behead
Action: Hack

Maneuver: Slitthroat

*Note* Level 80 Aslaran
456/230 speed-precision axe (only precision forging rune)
516/186 precision axe

Thanks!

I have no clue as to what makes for a truly good Axelord offense, though. I made this the other day so I could possibly start to figure out what would and make plans. Anyway, I eagerly await for Desitrus to find this thread happy.gif

Your maneuvers are all over the place. Maneuvers should only aim for one affliction.

Not really, no. Any swing maneuver should have something for every part the action can hit. It doesn't increase your chance to hit that actual body part or even afflict wounds, all maneuvers really do is trim out wounds you don't want.

So just jabbing would would work as well?

Not really. The only wound that can only be caused by jab/cleave/strike is ShatterJaw, and only a FEW are possible to get by either j/c/s AND swing. A majority of our wounds come from swinging, ie: the slash maneuvers and sweep. So just using j/c/s limits you to a very narrow field of wounds.

Why shatterjaw AND sliceforehead AND slitthroat AND behead? I would pick 1 or 2 head wounds so you dont get less useful things. Same for any other multiple wounds in the same places. Give it some focus

As for your 9 maneuvers..

Is that because of knighthood rank or your combat rank being too low?

Blind? He has two focused head wounders already. Behead and behead/slit. That particular one avoids ringingear, which is mostly useless. I have the same type for arms that trims out lacerate because it is the lowest wounding affliction and you have a really high chance to get it.

Transing knighthood spec gets you to a total of 9 maneuvers. Learning some more in combat gets you a few more. I believe maximum is 12, but I haven't had anyone confirm this for me as yet. I currently have 10 myself. 9 from knighthood spec, and 1 from my Virtuoso combat.

I think anyways, it's been a while.
Rika2008-05-02 23:28:16
Yep, trans knighthood/combat gives a total of 12 maneuvers.
Ildaudid2008-05-02 23:39:20
You could also do things like change maneuvers on the fly...

If I am attacking and a target has shielded or rebounded my attack then corrects itself by adding in a

maneuver develop action cleave

Before maeuver performing. This helps cut down on wasting maneuvers that are cleaves/strikes.... simply by making 2 maneuvers into 1 maneuver.

For the hack one he has I would have simply: behead, slitthroat, a chest and a gut wound (for hackup/hackdowns)

The thing a maneuver does like Desi says is narrow down the wound choices. But remember it is a die roll. And say you make a hack with only behead and slitthroat, well if you hit the chest or gut you wont get any affliction. And you only have a small chance of getting a behead or slitthroat even if you have the wound levels and hit the head.... Its a whole crap shoot, you either get what is in the maneuver list you chose, or you get nothing at all.
