Sooo, I'm thinking about getting a tattoo, and I have the general idea that I want.. however, I am in no way artistically inclined. I managed to GIMP my way to a basic idea of what I want.. but, uh, before I go and get something tattooed on my body, I'd not only like some opinions, but also maybe some helpful comments towards improving it. (or even a friendly neighborhood artist to draw something better )
Essentially, what I'm going for is a combination of Udjat (Eye of Horus/Thoth), Ankh, and the Triple Moon. Hopefully all 3 parts are clearly visible.
It's not going to be very big, and I'm thinking of getting it tattooed on the inside(underside..whatever) of my left wrist.
Basically, I'm just looking for feedback from people I know to be brutally honest (and maybe even occasionally helpful! )
Anyway, thanks in advance!

Why would you ink a symbol of an ankh, eye of horus, and the "triple moon". Obviously these symbols have an esoteric meaning for you, but come on man... its just so cliche and well, kinda lame. Might as well get a barbedwire tat around your arm. When people ask you what your tat means, or is, you are going to have to awkwardly look at them and try to explain the triple moon or egyptian mythology. Do you really want that?

I'm not sure if the symbolism is any less cliche/lame than getting a tattoo in general.
The main reason I wanted to link and tattoo those symbols is because of meaning. Life, healing, the end of a phase and the beginning of another. But also creativity, writing, and knowledge.
Plus, now I'm thinking of getting one on my other wrist, but rather than left eye/ankh/moon, have it be right eye/djed pillar/sun for power/ambition/stability.
Now you can feel free to call me cliche and lame, but I've never really been interested in tattoos that don't have some sort of meaning. And I can't think of a set of symbols that more quantify what i'm going through in my life than those.
However, if you have some other ideas as to what would be less cliche/lame but still has the same meanings, I'd be happy to think it over.
(btw, I'm not arguing, I just like dialogue for the new ideas it often produces, lol)

As someone that basically designed their own family crest and slapped in on their wrist, I can relate to Bali's sentiment about having to explain something rather complex 400 different times. However, I did it for myself, and I think you should, too.
Cliche or not, it holds some meaning for you. That is all a tattoo should do. I'm really exhausted with the people that think tattoos should mean something to someone aesthetically- and that's it. Inevitably, the tattoo that you get will become a constant reminder of the inspiration that drove you to get it in the first place. If you feel comfortable with the thoughts you have now, SAW, and they're good, positive thoughts, chances are you'll keep them in the hopefully many years to come.
Tattoos don't go away!

why get a tattoo? I thought about getting one once but then changed my mind. Got scars good enough for me.

I personally like it. Your tattoo needs to have significance only to you.

Ok, I am going to be honest too:
The tattoo is too busy to be small on the inside of your wrist. A good tatooist will tell you the same thing.
Second, are you a girl? (No I don't mean it derogatory) but if you are a girl, then cool. Its not a bad tatt. If you are a guy though it is a rather "girly" tattoo.
Placement of that tat just by looking at it is normally a neck, or center of the stomach setup. But then again that is because I see it as a busy tat and it needs to be big enough to offset the business
You see the center where it looks like a piece of candy wrapped in that plastic stuff, the |X| part. The spacing "tribal" where the lines cross will bleed together rather quick when you make it too small. And soon it won't look like you wanted.
Also where do you live? Depending on where you live, you need to print it up, go to a GOOD tattoo shop. (Do that by asking around, and get advice from people) In DC there is a guy named James, he has done my ink before and always does Kim's who has her lleg/rarm and ribcage, etc, etc done. He is normally someone you have to a few months for appointments.
Do some research on the local artists, and then take it to them... They will even redesign it for you if you want. Think of it like going to visit Monet or Picasso and having them draw something on you that you drew. It is sometimes better to have them do the art part and make it even better.
