What's your favorite combination of race, guild and skills for a character to work around a concept?
My vote would go to:
1. Master Viscanti Tarot Nihilist. Nothing says badass like a demonic demon-priest with access to mystic skills. Top that with the Magnagoran noble who wears elegant clothing and a mask and you got a great character concept.
2. Dwarf Axelord Ur'Guard. This combination says "To Nil with what Klangratch said. I'm a tainted undead Dwarf and a f***ing like it!" This is the best rebellious build in my opinion. Dwarfs are cool (even though they suck).
3. Orclach Pureblade Paladin. An Orclach angry at the taint for what it has done to his kin. Willing to beat some senses into Dwarf Axelord Ur'Guard.
Those are my top three. If I had the credits and the patience, I would go with number one. Make Orti quit Kalas and realize his true origin as the Viscanti he trully is.

Something I have always wanted to make is a Viscanti Pureblade Paladin
"See, I'm a good guy, I'm a PURE blade, I can cleanse my soul!! Sure!!"
*summons S. Hussein, via South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut*
I can change, I can chaaaaaange

Is that before or after he builds cookie factories disguised as weapons of mass destruction?
Jack2008-05-19 06:46:57
Merian Geomancer disguising himself using changeself. "How DARE you imply I'm one of those accursed fishfolk? I'm as viscanti as you are, scum."
Malarious2008-05-19 07:52:22
Think it would fail because you cant weave the spec if I recall.
Casilu2008-05-19 08:01:37
No, you can. I did it all the time as an Aqua. If you just weave yourself into a Viscanti, it'll automatically say you're a Master Viscanti.

So it's okay to changeself into a viscanti, but a changeling cameo can't.
Not a rant, just wishing for a little more changeling RP.

...huh? A changeling cameo can't what? If you're a Geo, and a merian and changeself as a viscanti, you look like a master viscanti. If you're a Geo merian and changeling into a viscanti, you are a master viscanti (and thus look like one.)

Then yes that would be quite a fun trick to play, though the second you show as merian someone would crucify you until you died.
Aison2008-05-19 13:35:27
Merian Cantor if it didn't suck so much. Elfen Spiritsinger looks like it rocks hard.
I always liked Merian Celestine, too. But those aren't very tanky at all. Human is such a boring race. Lobo is always fun to play. Aslaran would be too if it wasn't regarded as the mudsex race.

I've yet to get any more weirdness as a fairly blatant Aslaran than I would expect as anything else. That is, almost none. Of course, that may be because I didn't riddle Akui's description with... er... overdescription of gender traits. We'll go with that. I think it has more to do with the person going looking for things, really.
I've never felt like anyone assumed anything weird about be due to my racial choice, not counting the good humored stuff. (Meaning, like, if Akui is showing some racial pride, a friend says something like "Soandso isn't really helping your case, you know." Which means, Akui has developed a theory that Aslaran are prone to a particular kind of portal insanity.)
It's a neat race, which is why I picked it. Shards of a first circle Elder with some nice parts in the histories, and a unique vernal god as well. There's even a racial rivalry that's not tied to existing city/communes!
As for the topic, I like the aesthetic of Trill aquamancers. Also, sometimes the expected works really well too, especially if its done well. An aloof/detatched lucidian, a ponderous tae, a tempermental but intuitive dracnari would all be fun to see.
Furien2008-05-19 14:26:26
A Celestine with a mild, hidden contempt for the rest of her city/guildmates for worshipping beings that aren't even Divine. At least, when she doesn't have her attention completely centered in an Astrology book.
(This is actually rather fun.)

Razielan Celestine Propagandist
Healing and Bookbinding. Probably a merian, for the arrogance and racial stuff - and I think I'd apply to have him descended from that Saint Trevalyane (sp?) who discovered Celestia. Lots of progandic book-writing, and teaching novices - with a twist. This is one of those things I've put on the shelf next to my dreams of credits. I would love to play it, and Eventru would be a nice god for it, too - even if I don't get the whole plural thing.

Insane, over-the-top, frothy mouthed Celestine Methrenton zealot. Erion style. All killing fae in revenge for what was done to Raziela, all going on regular suicidal missions into Magnagoran territory.

An Undead Merian Ur'guard
-He'd look like a shark/barracuda thingy with highly cannibalistic tendencies!

Erion was amazing. I'd love to see another crazed zealot. Evil-good, mmm.

Illusion vrs the real thing, but I digress.
My first character concept was to play a merian/human half breed aquamancer who was afraid of the water. Then I noticed how all of celest was flooded, and I could not get over the "spout" title (even the name aquamancer bothers me a fair amount).
I also would love to play a Viscanti in any non Nihilist guild who focused on the change aspect of the Taint and felt the focus on the warped half-formed "demons" was misplaced. They are clearly twisted abominations and no true well formed Viscanti would follow them. I doubt I could pull it off though, the demon lords are such a core part of the RP in Mag I am sure I would meet with a large amount of resistance. Oh and I really like the concept of not calling the Taint the Taint, but as was brought up in another thread that has been tried and never went anywhere.
Druken2008-05-19 23:58:51
I think Shayle's concept was great.
Faeling Glomdoring Wiccan- always young, always youthful, always "innocent-" until you gave her a reason to be completely demonic. Picture the twins from The Shining. Smiling, wandering toward you happily, and before you know it, your soul was sucked dry. But no one would be able to pin it on the cherub!
Also sort of reminds me of that little girl in Desperate Housewives.

A feral astrologer wiccan. All dancing naked and reading the stars to predict the oncoming of the great earthquake that shall tear the Cityman's walls from the earth. It's even more viable now since the ability to Flamingrocktotheface.
