Have an acoustic electric guitar I should really use, but never am motivated enough to pick it up.
Have a violin that needs new strings.
Have a fife that direly needs retuning.
Have a flute that needs to be retuned.
I should spend some time with keyboard. I know it misses me.
Ocarina is on my shelf. Last time I took it out was to play the Legend of Zelda tune.
Harmonica in my nighttable. Last time I took it out was to play "Hoist the Colors" from PotC.
Panflute's in my socks drawer.
---
I really want an electric violin. And a tambourine. And steel drums.

Could you believe I live in a co-op with all those?
For Blood Ruby, I believe their site is http://bloodruby.com/ . You should be able to DL their music from there. As for the others, I could always give them to you directly. Anggun is spectactular.
Oh yus. I luff happy hardcore. And dreampop. Dead Can Dance and Blood Ruby are dreampop.
Try looking for Shaaman's song "Ritual".
I think White Willow's website is http://whitewillow.com/ .
Anyone you'd suggest?

http://www.myspace.com/scroobiuspip I recommend Astronaught. The other stuff on it are more spoken word.
http://www.myspace.com/lesacvspip I recommend Angles, though shall always kill, and beat that my heart skipped.
I'll have to check out those other things later. And yeah, padraic my prince is a great if not horribly sad song. Do you listen to some of the newer stuff like "Four winds"?
Shamarah2008-05-24 04:11:49
I think I'm pretty much the last person in the universe to discover him, but I just downloaded Sufjan Stevens's "Illinoise" the other day and oh my goodness is it beautiful.
Unknown2008-05-24 04:25:55
Oh, I also recommend Laura Gibson. One of the sweetest folk singers I have ever seen. I saw her open for Colin Meloy. It reminds me a bit of Norah Jones which can be a good thing.
@Sham If you liked Illinoise then you should look for the "Avalanche". It is a mix of outtakes and b-sides from illinoise, mostly just the stuff he did not use and about three different versions of "Chicago. It is all very good.

that scroobius pip is pretty hip! lol seriously cool though, different. in response i recommend mewithoutYou . Its not really the same as far as the hip hop vibe that Scroo has, but its 'spoken' sort of. i recommend 'gentlemen' 'january 1979' "O' Porcupine", part of my favorite song 'messes of men'. i was supposed to go to the free acoustic show these vids were shot at...but my stupid car overheated halfway there. i even made cookies for the guys! I'll leave further exploration up to you, seriously listen to it though, favorite band of all time. Their singer Aaron is my sig, really old pic but yeah crazy back then
and i havent really listened to "four winds" my gf got me into him with all his other stuff but i havent really listened to "Four winds" though i have it. Why is it good?
fave cursive album?
Unknown2008-05-27 19:53:22
Do you mean Cassadaga? Cascadaga is the album and four winds was the first single. Either way it is different. Definitly his folkiest album. The lyrics are different too, a lot less introspective crying and more outward stuff. It centers around the ideas of travel for a lot of it. He also wrote a lot of it while getting clean, stopped doing cocaine. It is all very good, if you have listened to his other stuff it is not suprising that he has made this album. It is definitly his "growing up" album.
As for Cursive, I think Ugly Organ is my favorite followed by Domestica. Organ has that cello work, I'm a sucker for the cello.

yeah thats what i meant. oops. hrm, i suppose i'll have to give it a listen.
and what say you of mwy then? eh?
oh and agreed on the cello work, i'm obsessed with the way a cello sounds. Murder by Death has a celloist and some bad arse folk/experimental stuff. they are very tom waits + johnny cash.

I've heard some mwy before. It is ok but I've never really gotten into it. It just does not click with me for one reason or another.
Murder by death however is very good. Check out Rasputina for good cello rock.

i see i see. eh, to each there own.
indeed, have you seen anyone live? i saw Murder by Death in Philli. They were really good their van broke down before the show and they had to borrow some instruments and amps from the other bands but they still kicked ass.
Astraea2008-05-28 05:10:00
I'm rather fond of Protest the Hero. Also, on a whimsical note, I have never played the game 'Portal' but a friend just introduced me to the song 'Still Alive' from its end, and well, I'm rather obsessed with the song now.

Last person I saw live was Colin Meloy, I'm going to go see the Raconteurs next week. I also try to go to any local shows, I usually know one person in a band.
