Use ^Sweeping an? .*?axe.*? through the air
And, no, you shouldn't be posting this. You should be contacting me for help!

Does this syntax work for Mushclient too? Or should I just use (\\w+)?

But they don't even know all 59123 of the conditions needed to make this work!

It will work with MUSHclient, yes. It's just a regular expression.

Why the secrecy? I don't really care I just find it odd that other system authors not only release things for free but also seem to be open about publicly talking about them. What makes "palaside" so different?
Kharaen2008-06-05 02:31:39
Can take months to build a proper system (where's Treant :sniffle: ) and some people aren't willing to give that work away for free. Completely understandable. Iasmos does provide advise, however, in many of the mechanics threads.

It's better, and Iasmos is a PEACH when it comes to helping with issues.
Update: It's Palisade, not Palaside! He yelled at me (literally... He called me little girl, too) for misspelling it.
edit: I'm still used to calling you Larkin after the playing Achaea so long.

I was just going by the thread title (which is Palaside) I have never used the system.
Consider me skeptical that there is anything about the system worth hiding, but if people enjoy it then more power to you! I find those who release their systems to the public and post public responses to questions about those systems to be more impressive but to each their own. I guess it is the closed/open source divide but for muds.
I will stop hijacking now

I haven't finished my own system, yet. So I can't really be called a system author. I take a pre-packaged system and make it better. I know the ins and outs of Palisade. I know its faults, bugs, etc because I've fixed them all for the most part. Added my own little tweaks to the system to make it work that much better, etc. If you fight Daevos and don't fix your sweep trigger, you'll understand what I'm talking about.

Yes I know the title is Palaside.. I spelled it wrong (sounds better than Palisade, pff)
Sweep trigger, I don't know what you mean. I notice it doesn't set stun...if this is the one I'm thinking about?

Sweep is a power attack like lunge, assault, and crush, not the knockdown you're probably thinking of.

Guess not, I'll look into it tomorrow. Bed time now, wish me luck on my test!

The sweep trigger is why this thread was created, and I posted the fix for you. (Odd that you're the first to point out the problem to me, though. Heh.)
And, I went the free/open source system route before. It caused more headaches than it was worth in the end. My first system was the ACP, and we even used SourceForge for the project. A few people pitched in with ideas or coding, but no one lasted more than a few weeks, whereas I kept developing it (and supporting it) for more than two years! After that, I decided to make Acropolis freely available and charge a fee for the support, staying away from SourceForge and working with other developers. It worked out much better but still had its share of problems.
I will eventually put Palisade up as a free download, but I make no promises as to when that will happen, and I will not support it for anyone who decides to download it for free. Don't know if I'll sell support contracts for it or not, since it's not in active development now.
Treant is in beta testing, and it is given to anyone willing to buy early. It works well for me in single combat, but when I get about three people beating on me, the client slows down to where I'm getting commands through about 10 seconds late. So, I'm looking at ways to optimize the trigger matches and curing logic, maybe consolidating things together in fewer functions and using Lua.
If anyone has questions about my systems, please feel free to PM or e-mail me!

Oh, that sweep. Yeah I figured that one out. It wasn't as "fancy" as Larkin's fix but mine worked nonetheless!
I learned the hard way from Desitrus jumping me four times, after the first death and wondering why the heck I wasn't curing wounds I just ran from him each time after that.
