Artifact of Sales log

I've always had a problem keeping track of what gets sold in my shop, ALWAYS. Instead of trying to have to wares everytime I log in, I propose a new idea. A sale's log artifact. Basicly a tome, looking old and battered, that would keep track of everything that sells within your shop. While you are logged on, it would pop up with a message much like the one that comes up when some of the credits you have on the market sell, but the gold WOULD NOT BE PLACED IN YOUR INV. The exact same message that popped up would then also be recoreded within the book. While you are out of the basin it would also be recorded in the book. The text in the book, would work much the same of that of messages, you may either choose to save them and have a long list of everything that you have ever sold within the shop, or choose to delete log It would also be pretty nice (but not needed) if the book also kept note of who your items are selling to, that way you have somewhat of an idea of the crowd you are appealing to, and are able to stock newer and better items that this group may want to buy, it would also help your Ads, knowing who you are selling to and would help with the way you advertise, for instance: Say that you have an aetherplex manse/shop, and you are a Celestian who allows all to buy from your shop (Heaven forbid, I know) come to find out the majority of people who shop there are Mag's. Well, knowing this you could increase your prices for known enemies of the Celestian Empire, or stock more "Tainted looking" items, also if it were me, I would stop advertising on the market, if you are a known enemy of somewhere, and you're advertising on the market "Come to Leigh's Manse, we've got everything" Most wouldn't even take a second look at it, and would make it a point to not shop there.

Well, anyways... That's my idea, please let me know if you've got tips, ideas to support exc.
Don't beat it up too god awful bad, it's my X-mas wish already. suspicious.gif content.gif

This is something a lot of shopkeepers would like, and the idea has been tossed around often enough, but I think I like this version of it the best. Though it's unlikely to be brought into existance, since all the other similar ideas didn't go through (considering the vast amount of people claiming they'd like this artifact, you'd think it WOULD become one, however.)

Well, perhaps they would like this to be a personal artifact or something the like. But I say we demand it! happy.gif

As I've had certain people prompting me to make my opinion known, I think this is a good idea as well. It's sometimes really hard to tell what's selling until it's all sold out and it'll help determine what's not selling as well as it could too.

Very neat idea!

I would really like to finally be able to track sales. I don't even need to know to whom the item was sold since I kind of like the fact that you cannot track who is sneaky and buys from you when they shouldn't. Then again I totally see how it should be possible to track it with a shopkeeper who stares in the face of the shopper. Maybe being invisible/hidden/masked could cloak it? Either way, I am not really concerned about the specifics, I would simply like to see this implemented in any way, shape or form. Perhaps instead of an artifact we could hire book-keeper denizens to sit in the shop and take notes? Or if it is an artifact ledger we could tune it to a specific shop so we'd need one per shop.

I think this would be useful, after running a shop it's really easy to forget what you have due to things like herbs and tints that go over the limit in basic wares.

However, it shouldn't show who buys. It should just show what was bought and if it was at a discount/regular/marked up price at best. Just as a record of sales.

A log of how many of what were bought at what price and when would be lovely. Yes, please! smile.gif

I've been pretty much begging for this eversince I became a shopkeeper. I personally have submitted an idea twice for this, both of them were like a chapter long, as detailed as possible. I also know for sure that I haven't been the only person submitting such idea.
As it was already said before, people have been asking for shop logs since pretty much day one.

I do not agree however, that this should be an artifact. Well, granted, anything would be better than nothing, but... show shopkeepers some love? (<3 Divine)

As for the exact mechanics, I don't really care about names. Seeing that Item X has been sold for Y amount of gold would be more than enough for me.

Make it an artifact: Give the player the log and a stone/assistant/thing (Hamster?). Whatever stockroom the thing is dropped in, it tells you what's been sold. Line breaks if it was picked up.

Making it like the signs: Once it's bought for the shop, it transfers with the owner of the shop. No hamsters.

Personally, I suggest both to an extent. I know many people have various vested interests in shops, such as Attai, and everyone would like to know. Let shop owners buy theirs at a reduced price with gold, let additional people buy theirs as artifacts.

Hamster with a funny hat.
Gnome with ball and chain.
Squirrel with quill.
Imp.
Psion Crystal thingy.
Golem.

Offer a selection for people. Personally? I'd take the Gnome.

Well, like I had said. Seeing who buys things from your shop is not really nessicary, but a likable attachment that I presume most would love. Perhaps make it an add on to the origial. As far as the stones thing, perhaps if we made it into another kind of sigil. Attach it to the bottom of your shop and onto a book, perhaps a personal journal.
I might be able to understand why the Devine dont want to do it. Coding it would be a censor.gif
