Due to the recent changes done to my race, I'm considering reincarnating to another one. Help me choose? Or should I just stay as mugwump?
Anyway, here are the relevant stats..
1. Mugwump
Strength : 12 Dexterity : 14 Constitution: 10
Intelligence: 15 Charisma : 11 Size : 12
PROS:
Level 3 equi bonus. Not as good as before, but still makes me as fast as possible.
CONS:
Are susceptible to fire, level 2.
Are susceptible to electricity, level 3.
This two hurts more than imagined. Someone with a with electricity and fire runes does over 2k damage on me. Sometimes, I even die to gorgogs
1. Merian Seasinger
Strength : 9 Dexterity : 11 Constitution: 10
Intelligence: 17 Charisma : 15 Size : 11
PROS:
Better INT and CHA translating to better damage.
Are susceptible to electricity, level 2 (Less 1 level of electric weakness)
(So someone with a runed sword will do just 2k damage instead of over 2k? And still, there is nothing to do with those darned gorgogs)
CONS:
Consitution is the same
Is the damage gained from the higher INT and CHA worth losing 2 levels of equi bonus. I mean, if i kill an illithoid at 30sec each, will the high damage compensate in such a way that I still am able to kill it at 30sec or less?
I dont know if certain bardic strategies will work anymore due to lack of speed.
2. Human
Strength : 12 Dexterity : 12 Constitution: 12
Intelligence: 12 Charisma : 12 Size : 12
PROS:
No fire and Electricity weakness. No weakness period.
12 Constitution! At circle 87, I might break 4000 health
CONS:
No speed bonus. Ill be slow again.
Relatively weak damage: I dont know what this will do with my bashing. I want to gain titan asap.
I dont know if certain bardic strategies will work anymore due to lack of speed.
BTW: Can someone tell me the evolution of a human caster at around circle 87 upwards? Maybe INT or CHA will have risen enough that damage is not so weak after all?
(Note: Later on, I might decide to be a Telepath again. Actually, human telepath ala Forren sounds quite nice.)
Anyway, any thoughts? Or maybe some other race I might have overlooked. Except for faeling. Im not gonna be a faeling. So tired of being squishy. Also consider that Bashing is priority right now actually. Which race is better at it, gets bonus point.

What about aslarans equi bonus and rather good stats.

Irontongue Viscanti :sagenod:
Come2mag?
Come2mag?

As a human druid at 85, I have STR: 13 DEX: 15 CON: 14 INT: 15 CHA: 12
I wish that all of those stats actually mattered for a druid
Also, just with 14 Con, I can easily break 5k health with yellow and a life blessing.

I would personally stay Mugwump. Your best defense is a good offense.

My runes would say that you personally stay Mugwump. Your best defense is imploding to 3000 damage combos.
I agree. This goes for all Mags asking the same question of themselves.

YES, because magnagorans ALL have runes, we get issued them when we walk out of the portal.
Sorry, my "press artifact button to win" skill isn't working right.

What? Sandy, I was joking around with thoros suggesting someone pick a soft race. My goodness but you do get uppity these days.

Heh, not getting uppity, just wish I DID have money for runes.

Psh, I'd choose Mugwump and wouldn't be touched. It's how it was when I was a Nihilist, however since then DMP has been introduced + racial nerfs...really I would need to experience being a mugwump first hand in order to see if it would be worth it or not.

But a dead Nihilist has no offense at all.

As a demi you also have a much larger health pool so you would have to test it out around level 80 for it to be similar.
I would not want to stand around with 3k health and increased elemental damage weaknesses wearing cloth no matter how fast I was, but that is just me.
In my experience on Achaea once you have mastered your class or reached max level then you should exploit speed. Before then you are far better served to go for survivability as you just do not have the timing needed to exploit the extra half second advantages. Speed is a huge advantage in the right hands but it is not the right choice for more than a handful (which is also why it is such a pain to balance around).

Human's are good. I personally wish I didn't switch from Human to Viscanti...
Desitrus2008-06-17 21:29:32
Murdalize you, Bardmore.

Honestly, mugwumps would be fine if they didn't have to worry about being two shotted by artied warriors. They'd still be squishy, but they would still have a chance to run if they needed to. Once again, the extremes screw everything up.
Ashai2008-06-18 00:06:42
All I can say is... I'm happy I'm not a burst affliction class. Though, crack-speed dreamweaving + sap was a blast for the two weeks that it lasted.
Unknown2008-06-18 01:38:09
I dont know why you are all on about mugwumps, the speed bonus just doesn't translate like what it used to. Get with the program, yo.

Don't cute my scathing wordplay. It has venom, like the snake.
