When you start a new character, how do you go about it?

Bash Newton until 21, then the Nexus World until 40?
Start hunting Aslarans with liberal use of circle/pentagram at level 15?
Nothing but scholars until 50?
Influence villages until 35, then move on to Tosha?

Feel free to provide variations based on what org/guild the character is.

Aetherspace until level 100

pilgrims/scholars/bards and newton til 21
pilgrims/scholars/bards, cows, rockeaters, oozes, and orcs (with shielding and ignore orc elders/warriors) until around 30
add orc warriors and elders and mooses (Shielding when needing) until 40-50
add aslarans, krokani, lucidians, freaks, and spectres.

This is assuming you are a glommie.

As a Glommie, my routine was:

1-15: Newton
15-50: Spiders in the Nexus/oozes
50-75: Spectres/orcs/aslarans/krokani/ghostly wolves/taurians
75+: Still working on that...

Newton to 21
Spectres to 80
UV/Astral to 100

If you're Celestian, just whore supplicants. You don't even have to go to Newton

Seriously though if you want a new character. Do it late at night when not a lot of people are on and take your newbie and go gather all the pilgrims, scholars, and bards. You'll almost reach 21 if you get all of them. Just have to hope nobody's raised the broadcast centre.

before circle 20, just do the oozes if youre a glommie, the supplicants if your celestian, the spectre if mag. i dunno what seren folks do in them forrest of theirs..

aslaran and krokani at circle 21-up.. in one week i took an alt to circle 66 this way.. and yeah, even if your celestian.. do the aslaran when none sees.. or even if someone does.

I was intentionally not mentioning it in that Aetherspace "50% through 99 in a day" conversation. No bringing it up here!

Count me in the camp that feels a VA needs to do far more work than someone who fights up to 100. Yes it is a popularity contest, and yes the Domoths have warped it now, but I feel that if you are able to convince your org to entrust you with a half to a years worth of effort in collecting energy, you deserve the levels.

I am not fully convinced that a TA does as much as a VA, but I like the idea of TAs so it does not really bother me. Besides it is just 1 a year, so it is not really a concern.

VA doesn't have to do crap but be liked and be a decent combatant (preferably warrior or demesne holder, whatever you need to win domoths atm).

VA=easiest way to 100. Hands down.

What about the nature reserve around level 20-30?

I should find those. I don't think I've ever set foot there.
