Next in the series of Selverad's Trade Secrets of Lusternian Legends.... How did you make your fortune?

It seems to me that Influence is, by and large, one of the best ways to make gold. Beg Tosha, esteem bottles, sell, repeat as necessary. Boring, but reasonably effective. Takes patience and not much imagination.

I've heard of others. Whore herbs, become a poisonist and sell kegs of mantakaya, and own a shop. Selling credits bought with RL money is another option open to some, and credits won in Bardic and Artisanal contests may also be sold for profit.

What other ways have you discovered to make money? Herbalism and Influence seem far and away to be the best, but I'm still a relative novice (Just got my first character to 60, should have another at 60 by week's end). I'm sure there's others out there.

Buy a shop. Put things in it. Keep putting things in it. THE GOLD ALWAYS COMES BACK!

Complete newbies who can access Angkrag can do the drunken orc puzzle for 500 gold per hour. Basin runs of bards/scholars/pilgrims will also reap about 1000 gold.

As for when you're well into your circles... hmm... I normally just bash for gold. >>;; Grey Moors, Shallach... *not helpful at all*

Join Domoth trips when you can, excellent gold.

Isn't there a level requirement for these?

Plus, after you get the Slave Master of Angkrag honours title, the gold goes up to 800.

Clearing out the UV is a lot of gold. 3 or 4 hives (if you include the big one) is 20k or so.

Orcs over the UV. Aslarans/Krokani.

And my favorite spot that not everyone knows about yet.
Rika2008-07-07 05:57:26
Muhanlesh is good too.

The same is true with the Illithiods, though of course both places carry the risk of PVP.

Many thanks for the replies. Anything you can think of, even unusual things like collecting dragon skin for the Forger on the mountain with the wyverns (Forgetting the name) is appreciated. I'm going to try to combine some of what I've gleaned over these last few threads I've started to create a combined guide. I don't want it to have all the answers, but I want to be able to provide people more options than rats, weevils, and Nexus for their confused early years.

Gambling is the best way to make gold in IRE.

Otherwise, Astral mobs (non-linked), the UV, Tainted Broadcasting Center is good gold. I heard the Asylum is awesome too, haven't been there. Shallach is pretty good (never killed Ur'Dead).

I wish we could still gamble lessons.

Aetherhunting.
Selverad2008-07-07 06:41:23
Gambling? That's something I've never tried.

There's always the Naga caves. There aren't many naga, but they fetch a good price per. I wouldn't suggest it to the newbies, though.

The Moors, especially at high levels when the aslarans/krokani barely scratch you, can net you tons of gold in a few minutes. If you also have the luck, you can get the additional 5,000 gold from Surtami.

The naga also net a hefty amount. A little bit more costly than the aslarans, but alright all the same.

The Lucidian Observatory also has good gold drops, and I also usually offer the corpses for karma and essence for Maylea, Charune, and Lisaera.

EDIT: Jewelry, Herbs, Enchantment, Alchemy. All these trades give good gold, too.
Diamondais2008-07-07 12:55:21
You can sell lucidians, but I have no idea how much they're worth. huh.gif
Kharaen2008-07-07 14:15:20
Lucidians are worth a random amount. Ranges from very little (less then 10 gold) to moderate (a little over 100 gold).

A brief exerpt taken from page three of my book, "The Merchant's Guide to Prosperity"

CODE
Certain individuals in many places offer gold in exchange for corpses. I
consider these people to be bounty wardens, and the people that hunt
their bounty headhunters. It is considered rude in the extreme to kill
these bounty wardens. DO NOT DO IT. Some of the listed provide indirect
means to obtain gold.

35 lessons in Alchemy.

Takes far less time than Herbs, and all you need is desperate customers.
