Well. There she is. In progress.
Please tell me you can tell she's in progress?
I mean, I don't have the blue streaks going for her yet.
I got her eyes down... but... her skin seems muted in color...
And I... forgot... to put in her nail...
I need to get better at photoshop.

It's pretty so far!

It's unbelievably difficult to draw with a laptop touchpad...
But thank you very much!

I might do submissions for people after. Admins tend to want to beat you up less if you mess their picture up somehow.

I've got my share of beating - nice work, Myrkr. I've never tried PhotoShop though.

I like it

Somehow, I think it would look better without a clearly defined nail. The thinnest, most visible lines remain on the face that way. Might just dabble a little pink there to show its not supposed to be barren.

I think it's quite good, better than I could do ( Which is to say, nothing at all)
I alwys envisioned Maylea as having a sort of east indian look, brown skin, golden eyes. Dunno, that's just me. I still envision Eventru as Zeus from the Hercules movie, and Fain as Golbez from FF4j.

Updated! Watch it change!

Much too much pink. Just...that doesn't look natural. Changes in skin tones should be subtle, and change very evenly. The lines also look very rough and watery...Since you are using photoshop, get acquainted with the pen tool! Simulated stroke when filling the path, while not as good as if done with an actual tablet, still does a decent job.
Just a comparison between a shoddy 10-minute pen job (you can do a lot better then this ) and the original drawing..
This is the pen tutorial I first used when learning to use the pen tool.
Here's another one.
Using the pen tool will greatly improve your drawing, drastically I believe. It'll smooth out the lines (like the lips). You can lock the transparency, and colour the lines so you don't have a black outline as well! This makes the painting look more natural.
There are three colour phases with the head...the forehead section has goldish colours, the section from top of the eye to tip of the nose is warm colours, and from the lips to the neck is cool colours. So typically speaking, purples/greens for cool colours, reds/oranges for warm. There are also nine spots on the face where highlights should be present. Take a look at the photo below, taken from the book, "Digital Character Design and Painting" by Don Seegmiller. (If you are serious about digital painting, do buy the book (or check it out from the library ). I got mine for 10$ off of ebay. It even comes with a CD on how to use the tools in Painter. )
I also suggest showing more connections...like where the neck meets the chest, knuckles meet the back of the hand, and so on... They are tiny lines, but it could make a huge difference.
Also, the hair should be worked on a bit more. The blue streaks are rather thick and random. Think of hair as a cloth (or multi-layered cloth, depending on the style). Straight hair would be a standard cloth, while wavy hair might be like frilly lace. The clumps of the hair move in unison. Individual strands of hair are rather thin and small, clumps are only slightly bigger, and ALL originate from the scalp.
I think with a bit of work, this drawing could look very pretty (it already is, just more so!). Maybe there should be a daisy in her hair, or an ivy tiara interwoven with small flowers.

I kind of think of, uh... this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...rma-Lakshmi.jpg
But I like Myrkr's version, too! It's looking great!

Never give up, never give in! Just starting a piece of art is an accomplishment in and of itself. You doing a good job, so keep up the good work!

@ Kharaen -- Thank you for the resources and help!
@ Maylea -- I you, but, I don't think I can pull out a Hindu piece of artwork. Nouveau? Sure. Renaissance? Possibly. Baroch? Most probably. But... Hindu?
