I hate racial bonuses. As an englishman I have a natural +3 to dexterity, which does not offset the -5 to profession (cooking), strength and charisma.

Also, lolympics.

Grr, I missed the live showing this morning because TV was screwed up. Oh well, I'm sure they will replay it to death anyway. Despite my mixed opinions about China's actions, the ceremony does look to be very neat flashy (and supposedly the most expensive ever)

I'm usually generally bitter about all of the crimes against humanity the Chinese government does to all of its habitants, no matter where they come from, not just Tibet.

I mean, if you're gonna be angry at China, try to be angry for something more than JUST Tibet, which no matter how big the genocide is, all of China suffer the crush to the spirit on their own.

I agree 100%. It almost feels like the media served Tibet up on a silver platter for people to get angry about without much knowlegde in and of itself.

I saw the first half hour of the ceremony. Started at midnight for me and by then I was too tired to go on after a long day at school. But from what I saw, it was a brilliant ceremony. You can tell they put in a lot of time for their practices.
Saaga2008-08-08 20:22:03
Ay, I absolutely loved the drummers.

NBC, CNBC, MSNBC and USA. TV Guide Listings for Olympics

And the Opening Ceremonies are playing at 7:30pm Central US time tonight on NBC, and again at 2:39am Central also on NBC.

Course, I'm not sure where you are, so it might be playing at different times or on different networks or something for you.

The Tibetan Rebellion in the 50's when it was occupied gave a death toll of thousands of Tibetans killed by China wtf.gif
Furien2008-08-08 20:56:33
It was regarded as both Tibetan and Buddhist genocide, the latter because of the messages of the current Dalai Lama.
Acrune2008-08-08 21:02:39
Oh darn, I missed it

Wait, I don't care. Boo China.
Unknown2008-08-08 22:25:12
Go China!

Its really a wonderful country. Speaking from personal experience. Just like any other superpower, they've made mistakes. Get over it. All you "anti-china" americans sound exactly like the "anti-america" europeans. Annoying. tongue.gif
Shamarah2008-08-08 22:39:25

My neighbor went there for a vacation, but she said something felt strange about it. Then she realized that there are no birds singing. She's been all over the world, but China is the first place I've heard her say that she didn't want to go back. Between the dreadful environment, the over population, the communism, the ridiculous level of spying, the blocking of IRE games (among a lot of other things), and the whole genocide thing... no, no its not a wonderful country.
