how about added another function to rwho. Right now it just shows those of your own race that are online.
how this: rwho (race)
example: rwho dracnari
this way it just show members of only that particular race

Why should you be able to see other races besides your own?
Zalandrus2008-08-11 16:47:46
But then, why should we be able to see people of our own race? It already doesn't make sense from a purely IC perspective, that I can "know", quite exactly, everybody else in the world online with my own race. rwho is already an OOC-ish function, so I guess having rwho wouldn't be -that- far of a stretch.
That being said, what are some practical uses of rwho?!
Edit: oops, meant "doesn't make sense"

All members of your race are connected by the fact that you are a splinter of the same divine. Its the same way you can tell who everyone in your city is with CWHO or in your guild with GWHO or your order with OWHO

I can understand OWHO and GWHO, but CWHO is already stretching it a bit, I feel. These commands are all on the border of the mechanics vs. pure RP divide. There's nothing suggesting that, because you're from the same divine, you should be able to sense (psychically?) another person of the same race, even when you've never even seen that person.
Daganev2008-08-11 17:30:52
Its called your thread. You can sense threads via magic.
read the falvour text for teleportation and summoning.

Like Daganev said, Lusternia actually has a pretty good story for all of that sort of stuff (whether it be Honours, or tells, or anything-- we're all connected to the Tapestry, and each other, by our own thread. We can teleport, summon, etc. by manipulating those threads, or we have the very basic manipulation of them inherent to our being. Talking on CT, tells, learning a bit about a person from a distance...)

My initial post and ensuing responses were meant to respond to Ardmore's question: Why should you be able to see other races besides your own?
Following the thread/tapestry explanation, then there should be no reason why we can't find those of other races.
And even with the thread/tapestry explanation, there's a leap of faith involved in the explanation behind things like CWHO. I can sense all the other shards pertaining to my city, sure, but then why not those special NPCs like Meleris, for instance? They're shards just like players are, supposedly.
I'll just shut up with questions about Lusternian philosophy now...

You can send them tells directly, but they're not exactly the same as us (a term I like to use for it is Fate-touched, those who have been and return through the Portal of Fate often). And why shut up with questions about Lusternian philosophy? It's a fun topic. Most of them are.

Let's muddle this up farther. What about changelings? Muhahahah.

I like that term! And very well, I can't seem to resist musing about things that are so abstract they don't have certain answers. Your explanation of the npc vs. character line doesn't seem complete; npcs do go through the portal of fate often, namely whenever they die and "repop". At least, that's how I've always understood it, and it seems to give a good reason for why those pesky named individuals always come back (they even have numbers! Ciarrus #1, Ciarrus #2, Ciarrus3, etc. )
And, I feel like using the threads explanation covers changelings nicely. Getting a cameo is, in some way, changing the nature of your thread (perhaps the "material") so that the race characteristic becomes muddled, or at least, less permanent than normal.

You can also call them Urth, if you don't mind stealing a phrase from the Nihilists.

Unless there's another mechanic happening there (whether it be reincarnation, some form of soul-rez akin to Celestian Sacrifice or the old Resurgem). It's not a given that they come back through the Portal, but even if they do, their (potential) influence on the world is much less than that of the actual Fate-Touched.
(Sorry, Iytha, I prefer my term!)

I personally think villages, Tosha, the camps in the grey moors, etc. have org-conglutination that only works for members of that group.
