Blame Myrkr.

Her parfait recipie is toxic by the way. I glow green at night now.

Anyways, I need inspiration for more kitchen-oriented exploits, but I thought I'd kick it off by sharing one of my random BS things that I made last night: Bastardized Cashew Chicken.

3 lbs chicken breast, in 1" cubes
1 handful minced cilantro
2 tbs minced ginger root
3 green onions, in small slices
1 orange bell pepper, sliced
1 handful salted roasted cashews
soy sauce to taste
olive oil
Corn starch solution (dissolve something like half a tablespoon of cornstarch in 3 oz water... not sure on the exact amounts)
sugar (!)

Pre-heat a wide, high-sided pan on medium-high with the oil and ginger already in the pan. It's ready when the ginger starts to sizzle.

Brown the chicken (high, dry heat). When it's almost done, drizzle some soy sauce on it for flavors. Sprinkle half a teaspoon of sugar over the whole thing and add corn starch solution.

Stir.

Remove from heat and throw everything else on top.

Stir some more.

Cover and serve warm with rice.

Total cooking time: about 30-45 minutes.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I don't usually cook chicken with the skin still on, but I'm sure you could if you really wanted to.

If you have the time and want a nice zing in your mouth, maybe you'll try making my Gazpacho?

Ingredients

* 8 plum tomatoes (diced)
* 1 1/2 cucumbers (peeled + diced)
* 1 1/2 onions (peeled + diced)
* 1 1/2 bell peppers (peeled + quartered)
* 3 garlic cloves (peeled + diced)
* 3 tablespoons vinegar (red wine)
* 5 tablespoons olive oil
* 2 1/2 teaspoons salt
* 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

1. Add all the vegetable ingredients together in a large bowl.
2. Sprinkle the salt and black pepper atop.
3. Add the red wine vinegar and olive oil.
4. Mix about so that all the liquids on the bottom get to the top.
5. Chill in fridge for 15 to 30 minutes.

Eat with bread. French bread works especially nice.

I would really like to make a new type of strawberry shortcake.

Jigan's Nillish Chicken Teryaki.

Ingredients:

4-8 chicken breasts
2/3 cup soy sauce
1 cup brown sugar
1 orange (Or just the rind)

Right. Explaination. I use chicken take comes frozen in a bag. You can use fresh, which I recommend.

Right. Instructions.

1. Cut chicken up into small chunks.
2. Put soy sauce and sugar in small pan, heat on medium, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved.
3. Take the orange and a fork, and scrape the rind so that the spritizing goes into the sauce. Maybe 7-9 scratches.
4. Pour the sauce into the uncooked meat.
5. Oil a pan (Olive/peanut oil if possible) and heat to medium, medium high.
6. Pour both sauce and chicken into the pan. Cook well. The chicken will not look done, because the sauce changes it's colour. 15-20 minutes should do it. 25-30 if you want to play it safe.
7. Eat.

Serving suggestions

On white rice, pouring extra sauce onto the rice for flavour.

Bird's Eye makes frozen foods which steam themselves in the bag. Cheap too. Find them in the frozen foods. I suggest the Asian Medly.
