Why would Aslaran make sense for Nekotai?
They're Scorpion-related, not cat-related.
Or are you just going off of the OOC name connotations?
Shiri2008-08-28 04:19:11
It doesn't make sense at all.

How about female spec Tahtetso and pervert spec Ninjakari?

well if you think about it Nekai are claws what do aslarans have? half the shofangi skills have bull in the title, what are Taurians closely related to in appearance and tempriment? I can see a Taurian having a bonus to bull charge or w/e

For Aslaran, it'd basically be, what do you think would be more powerful... instinct or many years of dedication and training?
And I'm sure Taurians aren't the only ones with anger issues. Once again, training or instinct?

... so, since rapiers are long pointy sharp objects, Lucidians should have a bonus with them?
That logic is faulty. If they're not connected in terms of style or setup, it does not matter whether or not they share some similarities. Nekai are far longer than an Aslaran's claws, so the claws wouldn't be adding anything to an attack anyways. Just like they don't when swinging a sword.

well an Illithoid fresh from the portal having never seen the weapon wouldn't have the years of training..
@Xenthos, No but an aslaran who would be swinging its claws around naturally would understand better how to swing a Nekai. As for a Taurian its rather stupid to not see the similarity.

Have you ever seen a cat and its claws?
Nothing at all like nekai. Far more curving, retractable, can do "light scrapes" or aim for "deeper" gouges (though even then, they're not very deep at all). A nekai can actually, y'know, do fatal damage (beyond the whole disease-thing, at least). Completely different things, even if they have the same name.
A cat's claws are nothing like a bear's claws (hey, guess what, bears have claws too! Tae'dae are bears! And they'd actually be closer to nekai, I think...)

No, they definitely would not, unless of course they were raised in the Undervault and saw the kata masters practicing and fighting. Or they asked their guild tutor for tips on the side, you know, just between Soulless shards.
And unless the Taurians were holding their horns in their hands, they really wouldn't have a reason to get a bonus.
Edit: Beaten to it. Oh well, overkill isn't bad.

You could have easily made a point about the Big Game Cats, but even so-- they're really completely different beasts. A wide variety of things are called "claws," and simply bearing the name does not necessarily guarantee proficiency with any other. Especially ones with completely different shapes (which give very different styles of use).

The difference between claws that rend flesh from bone and tear open throats to barely breaking skin?

Xenthos is being perfectly logical and pretty kind in his responses, I'm not sure how he's being an ass.
Unless the only way to not be an ass is to bask in the awesomeness that is Krin's super-duper suggestion and wail that this needs to be implemented with all speed hithero.
EDIT: When the topic starter starts calling people an ass for disagreeing, said topic is probably over.

I don't like this idea and I doubt we'll be addressing races anytime soon. Note there are native weapons for monks (illithoid and kephera).
