I'm trying to figure out the exact names and order of months in the calendar of the Holy Celestine Empire. I managed to gather some semblance of order and information from the history of its fall but I still have gaping holes on my list. The histories disclose little more but perhaps something is mentioned in the many in-game papers one finds during events or as part of large quests.
If anyone wishes for me to elaborate on how I established the below, I gladly will. I think it's correct unless the misspell in 10th part of the history of the fall of the HCE is, in fact, not an error. In that case, there's Ashmonth after Methril and before Ashtar (I just assume it would be a silly name).
Razielan
(1)
(2)
(3)
(4)
(5)
(6)
Shakinar
(7) Elohian
(8)
(9)
(10) Methril
(11) Ashtar
(12) Gorgani
I would appreciate any help whatsoever with this, especially with confirming whether Gorgani is followed by Razielan or not. You have no idea how desperately I need it.

Heh, I came across this hurdle too when I wrote one of my stories. I just made up the missing month names (in Undying Love). Not sure where else you could find them.

You might find some of the months available from documents you find on the histories of certain areas. I'm pretty sure Project Touchstone/Muhanlesh had some dates attached to their various pages that were available in the area.

Muhanlesh Caverns, the place with the other species of Nagaradja. Under the naga caves, southern mountains. Might be an Undervault entrance there, too. Just find the merian scientist.

I thought of that actually and checked the bit available on the forums in the Dread Lord thread but it had no dates I will go check the originals though, thank you! I'm wondering if the paladin place on Spectres won't have something too .
Furien2008-08-30 05:02:32
If not that place, some of the named NPCs in Duum might have something for Soulforge. Can't think of any else, I know the Scorpion Cave diaries are dateless.

They are also pre-Celest, if I recall.
Kiradawea2008-08-30 08:11:07
Yeah, they are. The Celest Empire was built after the soulless were sealed, but the Scorpion Caverns were there while the soulless were still roaming free.
Although, the names of the months are taken from the Holy Emanations of Shallamar and the Supernals. That leaves two months left though. Any idea who those months might reflect?

Dynara and Magnora?

Could always ask Maralynth or Ladantine

Failing finding new information as of yet, would anyone care instead to entertain my current findings? I'm particularly unsure of Lusternain equivalents to solistice and equinox dates. Someone... suggested the ones I based the above calendar on but after double checking with real dates, I have to wonder. Do we go by the tradition of them opening the seasons or being their centre points?
Elohian is referred to as the month of summer solstice which seems to be currently taking place in June, so will Elohian be Dvarsh after all?
Methril is referred to as the month of autumn equinox, currently September, so Juliary after all or Klangiary?
Ashmonth, an error in the 10th history passage in the Fall of the Holy Celestine Empire or a real month? If so, this answers the above.
And finally, taint is unleashed precisely on 13th of Gorgani 543 (currently supposed to be 12th month) and on 2nd Razielan 544 the Fatalists are already Nihilists and have their first Heresiarch elected, and a Magnagoran newspaper refers to the time in between those dates as 'weeks of increasing civil strife', and the council meeting that takes place is referred to as 'first full congress of the Iron Council since the failure of Project Cosmic Hope, which ended in chaos and the collapse of the Celestine Empire'. I suppose that sounds a bit much for just 2 weeks right? But it definitely is still winter.
The last known date from history is 22nd of Gorgani 543 which is right before Ladantine actually come back to prime, got to spy around the place, troops gathered, Marylinth ceme and went, Lolly went to Serenwilde, then to Celest, then the Vernal was raised and destroyed the Empire. Ergo there's at least a month's break between Gorgani and Razielan?
Comparison chart:
1) Estar (mid-winter) 7) Dvarsh (mid-summer)
2) Urlachmar (late winter) 8) Tzarin (late summer)
3) Kiani (early spring) 9) Klangiary (early autumn)
4) Dioni (mid-spring) 10) Juliary (mid-autumn)
5) Vestian (late spring) 11) Shanthin (late autumn)
6) Avechary (early summer) 12) Roarkian (early winter)
