I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Saudis for simultaneously shooting themselves in the foot for going it alone after their major oil fields have peaked and for giving the industrialized world a little breathing room.

Now we just get to seriously hope that we find a new technology to replace oil before it starting turning really scarce instead of imaginary scarce. I hope lower oil prices don't interfere with the push to phase out oil.

They didn't shoot themselves in the foot. They opened up the opportunity for the industerilized world to return the favor when they run out of oil.
