I remember from my tailoring days that the ABs in tailoring say that robes can be magic and electric proofed, and coats/cloaks can be fire and frost proofed. I'm pretty sure that I've proofed them in a way that contradicts that (such as fire on robes), but I'm not positive, and I'm being told it can't be done right now. Even if it can be done, I have no idea if they work on the 'wrong' article of clothing, since I've never bothered to test, and I'm no longer a tailor.
So, can anyone clear this up?

not sure about that but along the same lines if I proof my splendors with 1 of each and I proof a coat, does that defence stack?
Acrune2008-09-12 23:43:03
It doesn't

I think what it is is that you can proof great robes with anything, but the coats/cloaks can only be proofed with fire and frost. So, if you proof the greatrobes with fire or frost, you've wasted a proofing.
I think anyway.

Yes, Noola, you are right. You can proof greatrobes/splendors with any proofing but coats/cloaks are restricted to fire or frost.

Yay me! I retained some information!

I -think- anything can be proofed with anything.
I usually do fire/frost on cloaks though.

You can't do electric/magic on your cloaks/coats.
Doman2008-09-13 16:31:25
Are you sure? I'm almost positive that I have...

ab tailoring magicproof
TAILORING - MAGICPROOF
Syntax: MAGICPROOF
You can cure a coat, cloak, or robes in an elixir vitae, which will give
the wearer some protection against magic. This requires a full vial of
elixir vitae.
I'd do electricproof, but I'm not that high in tailoring.

So, the 'you can proof a set of greatrobes for anything, but a coat/cloak only for fire and frost' is a myth that's been busted then?
?

ab tailoring coats

You must be in a proper tailoring workshop to sew together coats. A master tailor may cure coats to add extra protection against fire, cold, electricity or magic.
