I just got back into the game and I am in need of change. I already switched over from Glom to Mag, but I'm not satisfied yet. I still have a free reincarnation so I'm trying to decide which race to go to. I'm Aslaran monk, now. I'm thinking either Viscanti or Dracnari. I've tried Alts in the past, but I just can't find the time or the devoting to levelling up another character.
I almost really asking because for combat related issues, too. I know next to nothing about the races/combat so I'm wondering which out of the three would make a better monk. As for role play reasons, I have some solid RP for any one I should choose. Also, I haven't seen too many Aslarans, so I could remain since being somewhat unique is kinda cool. My other option is to save up for my cameo..I've been wanting one of those for a looong time. But saving up is a pain, as my credits burn a whole in my pocket. I just have to buy/sell/skill up something or I won't be happy.
Thanks in advance.

Well, speaking as the player of an Aslaran who's very proud of his unknown heritage. Once you go cat, you never go back.

CHANGELING INTO ASLARAN
(One day later)
CHANGELING INTO FAELING
Don't go Dracnari though. Stats suck, Racials suck.

Cameo ftw. I couldn't imagine being a monk herbalist without.

Ooh, go Dracnari. Then Seraku won't be the only active Dracnari Ninjakari Admittedly the stats are myeh for monks. But I manage alright, besides it's fun to RP an 8-foot tall Dracnari monk.

Save half your credits for a cameo, save a quarter for skills and sell the rest to me at 3000 gold each. You know you want to.

As someone who was aslaran and bought a cameo:
Saving for a cameo is worth it. My situation was a little different, as Akui is a knight archetype, but after the race changes made Aslaran knights crap, I decided (eventually) to get a cameo. It is the most fun artifact I've played with. I get to write all sorts of fun descriptions, and I even alter Akui's outlooks and personality a bit depending on what she's shifted into. For example, as an elfen, she's more quiet and reserved, and a little more in-tune (and concerned with) nature's balance. As an Orclach she's more gruff, and more concerened with ancestors and the like as she resolves the Orclach death infactuation with Seren beliefs.
Mechanics wise, bashing as an Orclach is much much easier than bashing as an Aslaran. A mix of regen and resistances makes them pretty tough, though I do run out of willpower much faster.
Now, Aslaran may still be great for monks, I don't know. But Viscanti and Dracnari just don't have much dex, which I'm told is important to them. You could always be illithoid monk #4562 if you're mostly concerned with mechanics.
