Sounds like... party at my place?

I'd try, but I never have a good feeling about the things I write. Also, I've been informed by some people that I am a poor writer, so it's best I don't try. losewings.gif

Good luck to all those trying, though!

Pfft. The point isn't to write something really good. It's just to write! In fact, you're encouraged to not ever edit anything during the entire month, just pound out the words until the month is over. Then, you can go back over it and smooth it out if you want.

You should totally try Myrkr! We'll egg each other on and nag each other when we slack off, it'll be fun! cheer.gif

I'm a little lost -- what exactly is the prize?

It does look interesting...

Should we sign Estarra up so we can get some more elder wars books?

There isn't a real prize. Just the bragging rights you get for having done it. But come on! Who doesn't love bragging rights? laugh.gif

laugh.gif There's an idea!

I may sign up. I wanted to do it last year, but didn't have the time. I may just do it between calls at my new job. Its at a call center and I hear sometimes we get a lot of downtime.

*sniffle* we only get like... 2 seconds between calls...
Unknown2008-10-24 12:43:04
I got anywhere between half a minute to fifteen minutes when I worked at a call centre, but the latter was me slacking and not willing to risk another irate caller for that period of time. sad.gif

Anyway, I joined this two years ago about halfway into the month, just before my exams.. Needless to say, it wasn't very productive at all. Still have exams during the month this year, but I'm willing to give it another shot!
Serella2008-10-24 12:58:07
I did Nano last year after my friend bugged me about it. I wasn't planning to do it this year (bogged down by studying and all that), but I'm pretty sure I can spend at least an hour a day writing- I do more than that on Lusty after all tongue.gif
Noola2008-10-24 13:37:55
Cooool! cheer.gif

So, Serella, Silferras, Saran, Endlessnite and anyone else considering it (I'm looking at YOU, Myrkr! dazed.gif ), got any ideas on what you want to write about yet?
Iola2008-10-24 13:46:03
I would love to but I have entirely no patience for these sorts of things. I tried it before several years ago and got about 20,000 before getting stuck.
Janalon2008-10-24 13:49:43
Ah-- I participate in a writing group who go all out for NanNoWriMo. I never participated before, though it looks enticing. Maybe I will this year!
Unknown2008-10-24 14:02:12
I haven't actually decided on what to write - I might flesh out one of my various story ideas, or just pick some place to start and go with the flow. What I really want to suppress and/or get rid of is my persistent habit of editing exhaustively while writing (mainly because I'm perfectionist that way and I expect what's written to always be the final draft, barring glaring mistakes). I'm really slow when I write like that. sad.gif

Edit: And also, I've never finished any of my older fanfiction titles. Might try to do rewrites of those and actually complete them for once.
Noola2008-10-24 14:03:42
You should! It'll be fun having a nice big NaNo group here in Lusternia-land. cheer.gif

Yeah, NaNo is supposed to be good for that. Cause of how the goal is just to write and write and not worry about editing and so on.

I have several half-formed plot bunnies bouncing around in my noggin at the moment, but haven't really decided on which one to go with yet either. I hadn't thought of doing a fanfic though. chin.gif
Noola2008-10-24 19:35:48
Like I said before, I've got a few half-formed plot bunnies. I've decided to write them down and see what you all think. All of them sound pretty interesting to write about to me. I might add to the list if more plot bunnies wiggle into my brain, of course.

Ideas for NaNoWriMo:

Astronauts go to Mars and discover a form of life that they never expected, which might just be the key to saving the Human race. Or ensuring its destruction.

An off-duty cop stumbles into an apparent mugging and nearly gets killed. The ghost of the girl who saved his life by sacrificing her own keeps following him around, though neither one knows why. Can they figure it out before it's too late?

It's hard being the deity of a dead religion. One mythological Goddess decides she's going to change all that. Unfortunately, the powers of the Divine are tied directly to how many people believe and in this day and age, no one's going to believe in a deity without any powers to back up her claims. What's a Goddess to do? Well, enlisting a good PR Agent can't hurt. - The one I picked! cheer.gif

A psychic with a poor track-record (literally and metaphorically) begins getting visions of an impending disaster. Trouble is, the visions aren't running in order and hardly seem connected at all. They're more like puzzle pieces that don't make much sense. Can she put them together and convince anyone to believe her, before it's too late?

Two children, born half a galaxy apart, hold the key to saving both of their worlds between them. However, they each believe the other is only a dream. As the end draws near for both of them, will they be able to accept the truth and work together to save the lives of billions? And who will believe them anyway?
