I just setup my server last week, and I was disappointed to see 8.10 wasn't out quite yet. Time to try and upgrade now, I guess. What I really want, though, is the power of Server with the GUI from Desktop. Too much hassle for me to install Gnome/KDE/X11 onto my machine now, I think.

One of the desktops I infrequently used runs Server with gnome. I believe you just install Server and then sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop. KDE would probably make more sense since I'm using KDevelop often.
