Moving influence mobs

Please, could the denizens be made to not move once you have initialized an influence against them? It is needlessly annoying to chase after them.

To compare, once you start bashing a denizen they will NOT move randomly anymore either.

Please?
Lekius2008-11-22 17:57:53
I thought they already fixed that so they don't move?

I thought they did, too, until the Daughters started running away and vanishing mid-influence. Yes, I bugged it. It said it was resolved. Yes, I bugged it again. Next time I logged on, it wasn't on my bugs list anymore.

Admins, are they supposed to wander away and/or vanish mid-influence?
Sarrasri2008-11-22 18:10:42
Vanishing is just the mob resetting. It happens with bashing too, you'll just be killing something and poof, it's gone. I've had the wander away occasionally with ladies, but generally, mobs don't move while influencing now.

I'm pretty sure even this shouldn't be happening so if it still is, bug it I think.
Unknown2008-11-22 18:49:29
I have bugged it once too Illyarin. I was told it wasn't a bug and this was supposed to happen. Yes, I remember an announce too where it said it SHOULD NOT happen anymore.

Apparently it was put in again for some reason, or that announce was fake. NFC.

Either way: Could it PLEASE be made that once you initialize an influence against a denizen they do not move randomly anymore? I'm not talking about resetting, just about the moving out of the room randomly.

Bug it again with the announce post # and relevant details, because we used an envoy slot on that fix (as I remember, it was Thoros' slot). They accepted it.

Mobs are not supposed to move while being influenced, by Admin & Envoy agreement.

.. I don't even know where to start looking for the correct announce. If you (or anyone else) happens to know which it was, I'll gladly bug it again though.

Subj: February Envoy Report

The envoys have been discussing Night Choke for a few months now, and
have floated several interesting suggestions that we have decided not to
implement for one reason or another. However, I do realize that in the
interim it can be frustrating to have to deal with avatar-level mobs
being choked, so I have implemented a temporary stop-gap measure until a
more permanent solution can be found:

- You can no longer choke a room with an avatar-level mob
- The same holds true for the Domoth thrones

Without further ado, here is the February envoy report:

- Mages and Druids have a new skill in meld: Dampen
- Dreamcatchers no longer decay
- Wiccan nymphs will not try to pacify shielded NPCs
- Mushroom circles can be summoned at nexi
- Moonburst and Nightkiss can be cast with 1 broken leg
- Puissance will not increase the damage of ripostes or coules
- Psychometabolism's Biocurrents has a slightly increased base damage
- Kata forms will terminate when you kill your victim
- Psychometabolism's Pheromones effect will occur more rapidly
- Music's Sustain is no longer considered aggressive
- WildArrane's Bluemoon now affects focusing body and spirit as well
- NPCs engaged in an ego battle will not wander
- Knighthood's Engage will throw the victim off-balance if it blocks
them from leaving

Enjoy!

I don't understand people who say "How do I find the announce post about "! Took all of about 30 seconds to find that. :|

<3 Illyarin.

Bugged.

And how do you find these things in 30 seconds...? blackeye.gif

I think that at certain locations, it's not actually a bug but supposed to be the way it is.

For example, in the i'Xiia Asylum, when the bell rings all the mugwumps will just rush away, 'cept for a handful, for their recreational break. Considering that they've been living inside that god-forsaken place and having been beaten, dissected, and essentially used in that place to the point of losing their sanity, I suppose that your feeble attempts to convince them that they're in fact very capable people will pale in comparison to the magnetic call of the bell signifying a short recreational break.

As for the random resetting, it happens to me mostly on Nil with the demons and it's quite annoying but for places like this where there's some kind of context for the denizen to move off, I think it's perfectly reasonable that influencing should not stop them from moving away, though it'd be nice if they'd let us know that they'd rather talk to us later, or have something important to do.

The eyes of a malevolent demon flash with a red glow. Spreading its massive wings, a malevolent demon says, "Master Luciphage summons" and abruptly disappears.

Something like that.

Well, yes to those.

But the Ladies for example still -wander- while being influenced. As in, just randomly move a room. There's no scripted event behind that.

As for the random resetting. I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen or not, however I have -never- noticed a mob randomly resetting while being -attacked- (aka bashing the mob). So I'm guessing it's more of an oversight and a lack of specification that denizens reset while being influenced.

I've seen them reset while being bashed, it's weird. I have had both Ladies and Daughters walk off while I was influencing. Not just reset, -move- a room as in you see them move. I've always put it towards the fact that they are still above their health level from Wiccan Surge but who knows.

As I did not handle the bug, I do not know how far it was investigated.

However, to my knowledge, the code change to prevent mobs from wandering, who are flagged to wander, has NOT been rescinded.

I went ahead and checked the script that governs the Lady's personalities, and I can say for certain they will wander randomly, irrelevant of the code, because of how they are scripted.

That is to say, they are not flagged with the 'wanderer' flag, but instead are scripted to move when a certain event happens (I'll keep that to myself, what it is).

And no, I do not foresee that being changed, as it needs to remain this way for them to be able to be of any help defending the Ethereal Reflections.
