Centre of the Necropolis.
Rubescent lambency emits from amidst crimson petals of the weeping amaranth
suspended from a magnificent gemwork chandelier. Rising up from cracks in the
floor, the Megalith of Doom towers above everything here, polluting the air with
its foul fumes. A painting of Supreme Master Luciphage is proudly exhibited on a
nearby wall. Swirling eddies of chaotic ether dance around a marble shrine to
Morgfyre that holds a crystal model of the planispheres. There are 7 illithoid

presence. There are 2 wights here. There are 5 plague lords here. There are 7

Romero, Fist of Luciphage says, "Now then, let us begin the ritual. We will need
the power of the Nexus to call on the powers needed for the Warlord."

Romero, Fist of Luciphage says, "The Cacophony might begin small songs and
rituals in the Warlord's honor."

Romero, Fist of Luciphage says, "The Geomancers may chant and call on the
tainted powers of the earth."

A magnificent weeping amaranth chandelier sparkles overhead, briefly revealing
Lehki.

With mild annoyance, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says to Revan,
"Begin the sanctification."

Romero, Fist of Luciphage says, "Ninjakari, begin meditation and contemplation
to draw forth power to the Warlord."

Revan stomps on the ground and his eyes shine with an eerie red glow.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent beckons for Hyde, Iphigeneia and
Othero to approach her.

Disciple Hyde, Dark Whisper walks slowly forward to Heresiarch Nariah, stopping
just short of her.

Trooper Tynghall, Combat Trainee stands at attention in a rigid posture.

Disciple Iphigeneia, Custodian of Nil bows her head and walks to stand by
Heresiarch Nariah.

Mystagogue Othero d'Iasani walks up and stands before Nariah.

Bleak Conductor Iorden d'Murani plucks the strings of a Demonic Lyre, releasing
the mighty notes of a triumphant march.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent unwraps the package in her hands,
pulling aside the dark fabric slowly and carefully, the edges dripping with
blood, before a golden heart is revealed radiating with supernatural glow.

Moving about the area and looking on at the group with a slight smile, Romero,
Fist of Luciphage says, "Summon power to your own Warlord. Chant, sing, or pray
his name, ask for the blessings of the Demon Lords. We will need all that we can
for him."

To those closest to her, barely audible, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the
Benevolent says, "Dip your fingers within the blood of the divine."

Romero, Fist of Luciphage moves over towards Nariah, falling silent and standing
behind and waiting at her command for the ritual.

Revan bows his head, weaving his arms about as his deep, resonant voice echoes
across the dome of the Necropolis, the vibrations reaching a foreboding
frequency as the earth itself begins to tremble and shake.

Celina d'Murani, the Scarlet Hydra places her bow softly upon the strings of her
violin, drawing out a slow, disturbing melody.

Disciple Hyde, Dark Whisper slowly reaches forward, touching the heart and
bringing the blood to his forehead.

You have emoted: Shaddus prays softly, his lips moving in a devotion to Mother
Illith.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent looks up briefly and nods towards
Romero.

Mystagogue Othero d'Iasani dips his fingers into the package in Nariah's hands,
the supernatural blood staining them.

Disciple Iphigeneia, Custodian of Nil takes a step forward and places her hand
on the golden heart, then marks her skin with the blood.

To those closest to her, barely audible, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the
Benevolent says, "Brethren of the Fold, assist me in drawing the sephira, the
Tree of Life around the Megalith in this blood."

Disciple Hyde, Dark Whisper takes his hand to the ground, moving in cold,
calculated motions as he draws out part of the symbol around the Megalith of
Doom. Returning to kneel after he finishes.

Ur'Mage Revan n'Kylbar, Avatar of Destruction says, "Brothers and Sisters of the
Earthe, come and purge thy body of the foul waters that infect thee."

Disciple Iphigeneia, Custodian of Nil wets her fingers with the blood and begins
to trace arcane symbols on the ground around the Megalith of Doom.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent dips her hand in the blood pooling
within her palm and begins to trace the highmagic spheres around the Megalith of
Doom.

Mystagogue Othero d'Iasani bows before the Megalith and spreads the blood on his
fingers and traces the highmagic spheres on the ground.

Attendant Kalas Iytha, Death's Undying Foe draws a black, iron-hilted dagger and
cuts her left palm with it, letting the blood spill onto the earth at her feet.

Attendant Esano, Ire's Hammer draws a dagger from within his robe, and slices
across his palm. Blood drips from the wound, and he carefully directs it away
from the Nihilists' symbols.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent nods her head in acceptance at the
tree of life painted in carmine blood throughout the Necropolis, the heart still
in her hands.

Revan steps forth, raising his arms as he draws forth a dagger from his sleeves,
beckoning to Esano and Iytha as he slits his hand, allowing blood to drop onto
the ground, intermingling with the others'

Romero, Fist of Luciphage looks on in silence as the Nihilists set the markings
about the Megalith, eyeing those who take part in the ritual with glare.

The necropolis rumbles as the blood is soaked into the ground, pieces of rock
falling from the ancient sanctuary as a deathly feeling of doom permeates the
surroundings.

Bleak Conductor Iorden d'Murani says, "Scream Cacophony, let the Song of Engine
be heard across the Basin."

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent closes her eyes and inhales the scent
of blood deeply with obvious pleasure.

Attendant Kalas Iytha, Death's Undying Foe recites, "We call ye, Earth and Sand,
Klaymeche, Bhalegu to witnesse our supplication. Boulder Brom, and Granite
Gravyni, bear witness. Even as we have liquid imbibed, so we have liquid
expelled. Accept our libation: Fore our blood floweth, and maketh Mud for thee."

Disciple Hyde, Dark Whisper calls solemn, harsh prayers to Lord Ashtorath. The
Angel's face on his mask contorting in pain and agony, a window to the strength
of the Demon Lords.

Whirlwind of Chaos, Meshora, Song Slinger sings softly of terror as she slowly
plays her viola.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent opens her golden eyes and scans the
surroundings slowly, taking in the sight of the preparations.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent moves forwards to stand in the middle
of the gathering, the Megalith of Doom behind her.

Bleak Conductor Iorden d'Murani growls a dissonant song of ruin and conquest.

Calling out as he points over to the great Megalith, his voice booming through
the Necropolis, Ur'Marshal Karnagan De'Unnero says, "Ur'Guard! Fall into line
before the Megalith, to prepare the way for our Warlord!"

Ur'Mage Revan n'Kylbar, Avatar of Destruction says, "Lords of Earthe, Bless our
Warlorde and Grante hime thine protection! Lete thy powerse bee his for
eternitye."

Whirlwind of Chaos, Meshora, Song Slinger slides her bow harshly across the
strings of her viola, her eyes glazed over as she sings of Thoros' past.

Attendant Kalas Iytha, Death's Undying Foe recites, "Praise be to Brom, Lord of
the Boulder. May he grant the Warlord his strength."

You have emoted: Shaddus emerges from the shadows, jakari dripping freshly
crimson blood. Bowing to Thoros, he lays his hands upon the Megalith, pledging
loudly his support in raising an ascendant. Ninjakari emerge all around you,
each spinning his or her jakari around in intricate circles.

You twirl an iron chain in the air overhead until an ominous whistling fills the
air.

Yukio twirls a chaotic ouroboros link jakari in the air overhead until an
ominous whistling fills the air.

Arrizzhel twirls a chaotic ouroboros link jakari in the air overhead until an
ominous whistling fills the air.

Lyna twirls a stony lindwyrm chain in the air overhead until an ominous
whistling fills the air.

Arrizzhel twirls a chaotic ouroboros link jakari in the air overhead until an
ominous whistling fills the air.

Attendant Kalas Iytha, Death's Undying Foe recites, "Praise be to Klaymech, Lord
of the Soiled Earth. May he grant the Warlord his power."

Raising her hands and voice, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent
exclaims, "Quiet, Magnagora!"

Her voice ringing through the necropolis, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the
Benevolent says, "You will all be silent now that the ground has been
sanctified, the chants sung and the arcane spheres drawn. We are ready."

Looking over those gathered slowly, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent
says, "I am sure you all know what this gathering is for. It has been long
whispered, long awaited, long dreamt of."

Nodding her head, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says, "Indeed, we
have waited long proving year after year that the Dominion needs not an
Ascendant to lay waste in all fields - from warfare to culture."

Romero, Fist of Luciphage offers abit of a smile as the Heresiarch draws on in
her words, eyes darting towards Thoros and giving a slight nod in
acknowledgement and respect.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent lets her gaze travel from face to
face till she finally pauses upon Thoros.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent strides towards Thoros in slow
measured steps before she pauses right in front of him and falls to one knee,
her head bowed.

Romero, Fist of Luciphage rises in time with the Heresiarch, his head still
slightly lowered in a gesture of respect and his arms folded about his chest.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent turns on her heel and approaches the
Megalith of Doom behind Thoros.

Ur'Marshal Karnagan De'Unnero Bowing his head as Nariah and Thoros approach the
line of Ur'Guard, Karnagan glances over the other soldiers in the line.

Loudly, to all gathered, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says,
"Engine. We have welcomed this man many years ago into our ranks, some with
suspicion and some with fear."

You have emoted: Shaddus approaches Thoros, standing behind him and off to the
side.

Looking over to Thoros with a faint smile, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the
Benevolent says, "Myself I have been doubtful for he was an adversary to behold,
his skill staining our lands crimson with our own blood."

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says, "But he has come to us, he has
abandoned the foolish ways seeing where true power is - in the Engine, in the
Demon Lords, in the Tainted Earth, and in service of the Crimson Lord."

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent proclaims, "And from that day on,
none can question his loyalty, his courage, his skill."

Looking over those gathered, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent asks,
"Who here has not slaughtered our enemies along his side?"

Skeptically, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent asks, "Who has not been
saved on the last second by his speed?"

With a hopeful smile, Vathael raises his hand high in the air.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent nods in acceptance of the overall
agreement.

Vathael pats Thoros in a friendly manner.

Thoros smirks.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent asks Thoros, "Warlord, the Engine is
yours, what say you?"

Ur'Warlord Thoros d'Murani, Scythe of The Red Masque says, "There are none who
can question my loyalty to Magnagora. Already, our enemies fear this ascendancy.
They cower and tremble behind the gates of Celest."

Ur'Warlord Thoros d'Murani, Scythe of The Red Masque says, "I have served
faithfully from the very beginning, when I saw the truth and power of the
Taint."

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent licks over her lips slowly observing
Thoros, her hands clutching at the heart wrapped in fabric in her hands.

Nodding in acceptance, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent proclaims,
"Each of the Guilds have selected a representative, Warlord, to offer their
essence and empower you for you are the Engine."

Romero, Fist of Luciphage nods in acceptance of the Warlord's words, a smirk
alighting on his face as he begins to step foward through the crowd towards the
front of the congregation.

Straightening up, loudly, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says, "May
the Ur'Guard representative step forwards."

Torturer Vathael Feyranti says, "I am the Queen's Own Torturer, heir to Urlach
and champion of Ur'Guard. I say that you are among the greatest of the warriors
of the Empire, and worthy to bear the mantle of Ascendant. I sacrifice my
control over the power of the Bone Helm, that you may be more worthy of the
honour bestowed upon you."

--Vathael sacrificed--

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent steps to the side of Thoros, nodding
towards Esano on the way.
-

Attendant Esano, Ire's Hammer says, "I am a Rock of Security, sworn to protect
and empower the Engine and the Geomancers. I have fought by you, and served
under you, and I say that you will strengthen the Engine and make us ever
greater as our Ascendant. I sacrifice myself, that you and the Engine may grow
ever stronger."

--Esano Sacrificed--

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent makes a loud, pleased noise as the
blood splatters, her eyes closed.

lick
You lick your lips.

Opening her eyes, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent proclaims, "May the
Cacophony representative step forwards."

Celina d'Murani, the Scarlet Hydra steps lithely towards Thoros, weaving a
chaotic array of crimson hues about the chamber.

Their songs swelling in disharmonic unity, the Cacophony lifts their voices in
praise to Thoros before abruptly falling silent.

Playing a haunting melody upon her violin, bathing Thoros is a cacophony of
sound, Celina d'Murani, the Scarlet Hydra says, "The Cacophony gives their
blessings in both voice and blood so that you may rise. In service to the
Engine, mighty Warlord."

--Celina sacrificed--

Kneeling before Thoros, you say, "As representive of the Ninjakari, scions of
Mother Illith, I declare Warlord Thoros to have our blessing in ascendance. I
hereby give this ceremonial dagger, blessed by the Leviathan Herself, as a sign
of our loyalty."

You give a wicked golden dagger on a ceremonial chain to Ur'Warlord Thoros
d'Murani, Scythe of The Red Masque.

--Shaddus Sacrificed--

Keeping his head lowered, a scowl present on his face as he voices up loudly so
all the congregation can hear, Romero, Fist of Luciphage says, "As the Fist of
Luciphage of the Nihilists, we offer our support and consent to the Warlord
Thoros so that he may be raised to defend Nil, and destroy those who would
oppose the Demon Lords and our enemies."

--Romero sacrificed--

Offering it upon her joined hands, the blood dripping still, Nariah gives the
golden heart of Aestra to Ur'Warlord Thoros d'Murani, Scythe of The Red Masque.

Ur'Warlord Thoros d'Murani, Scythe of The Red Masque bites into the golden heart
with animalistic eagerness, tearing away pieces with abandon whilst the carmine
blood drips down his chin and neck.

Officially, turning towards it, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says,
"May you now be empowered by the powers of the Megalith of Doom."

Quietly, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says, "We must prepare the
space so that no intrusions, no negative powers disrupt us once the powers begin
to flow into the Warlord."

Disciple Iphigeneia, Custodian of Nil looks up at Nariah, nodding obediently.

Nodding, Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says, "Within we shall
create Da'ath, the centre, the void. The Warlord will be secure there."

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says to Iphigeneia, "Malkuth."

Iphigeneia mutters and traces glowing geometric patterns in the air which settle
around her, grounding her to the earth.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says to Hyde, "Yesod."

Hyde mutters and traces a glowing circle before him. He steps through the circle
and suddenly vanishes from sight.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says to Othero, "Netzach."

Othero mutters and traces the glowing symbol of a rose before him. He smiles as
the rose floats towards him and enters his chest, making him somehow look much
more attractive.

Nariah mutters and traces a glowing triangle before her. The triangle enters her
forehead and her eyes seem to become clearer.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says to Othero, "Tiphereth."

Othero mutters and clenches his fists which begin to glow. The glow spreads
across his body.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says to Hyde, "Geburah."

Hyde mutters and traces the glowing symbol of a sword before him. The sword
enters his chest and his muscles seem to swell before your eyes.
-
Nariah mutters and traces a glowing circle above her. The circles passes through
her body, healing her wounds.

Nariah mutters and traces complex glowing symbols before her. The symbols lash
out at Hyde, whose body desiccates before your eyes.

Disciple Hyde, Dark Whisper draws forth the symbol of Kether, a glowing orb
fires off into the distance, seeking out a foreign enemy.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says to Hyde, "Lay down the Great
Pentagram."

Hyde mutters and traces a cobalt blue pentagram in each of the four directions.
The four pentagrams remain hovering in the air, connected to each other by lines
of energy.

Heresiarch Nariah d'Iasani, the Benevolent says to Iytha, "Barrier."

The air in the room suddenly sizzles with energy.

Thoros steps towards the Megalith of Doom, placing his hands on it. Deep cracks
and fissures spread across its stone surface, as thrumming power fills the air
and pours through Thoros's mortal coil. Hordes of vile demons fill the air with
the flapping of their leathery wings, temporarily blotting out the sky as Thoros
is suffused by incredible powers, and rises as a Vernal Ascendant!
A new Ascendant rises! By decree of Magistrate Thoros and with full support of
the Iron Council, let it be known that the Mighty Province of Magnagora has this
day imbued Thoros with the energies of the Megalith of Doom, raising a Vernal
Ascendant!

Nariah wanted to script it and I hate scripted RP so forcing her to do this on the spot was awesome. Everything came out the way pretty well for about 10 mins of planning and coming up with ideas.

<3 to Nariah for going along with the 'wing it' request and the bulk of the work. Hope it lasts and everyone remembers it. Sorry I was too crunk at the end and shouted obscenities.
Revan2009-01-12 06:24:06
it was awesome all around. Except for my half-assed geo ritual (I was in a very important talk with a friend at the time. Tsk!)
Narsrim2009-01-12 06:28:34
From a strategic point of view, I'm confused as to why Thoros was raised. It seems to me like Magnagora would have been much better off raising someone who was not a demigod. What real advantage was gained for the city?
Nariah2009-01-12 06:39:35
We decided we don't need one. content.gif
Narsrim2009-01-12 06:42:13
I was just curious because this sort of thing could backfire. People could make the argument that Magnagora can't really complain about Domoths because when given the ability to add another helpful body to the fray, they opted out. I understand there was probably some crafty/cool RP reason that I'm unaware of - I just hope you don't end up regretting it. Otherwise, congrats!

I don't know how much water the "You can't complain because you didn't powergame" argument will hold.

You don't feel that there is some merit in the recognition on both an OOC and IC level that the more people you have to fight, the better? A lot of people in Magnagora were probably worthy of being raised (or at least, I would hope). I think part of the decision making process involves selecting someone who can provide the "most" for the city, and in this instance, I do not believe Thoros is that person. That's of course just my opinion.
Arix2009-01-12 07:56:30
I hate to say it, but I agree with Narsypoo
Catarin2009-01-12 08:04:02
It is an interesting choice and I hope it works out well for Mag. I think they're the only org who raised someone for non-combat benefiting purposes (besides Nejii and he doesn't really count since it wasn't known how it worked at the time) though I would have guessed they would raised someone like Nariah if the goal was more RP than combat.

Sure, but that shouldn't be the defining argument over Ascendency. "Ascend so and so because we need more domoths" would really cheapen it. It's more of a broad picture. Who contributes, who will take the skillset and use it, who fights, who RPs. Thoros was the best choice and picking someone else because Thoros is a Demigod is what already upsets a lot of demis.

I don't think it, in any way, disallows Magnagora to bring up issues concerning to Domoth system.
Ilyarin2009-01-12 08:42:21
Thank you Magnagora!! I really hate this whole idea that people will refuse to Ascend someone who's already a Demigod. Hate it with a passion. Thank you so much. biggrin.gif And good on you all.
