First of all, this is 100% just for fun. I realize I'm probably guilty of breaking (or following!) most of these "rules".
These "rules" are what I have learned since I began posting on the forums. If you have others to add, go ahead, just remember their just for laughs.
The Rules of Forum Politicks
1. Every ability in the game is both underpowered and overpowered at the same time. There are no exceptions to this rule.
2. As a continuation of rule number 1, game balance is directly correlated with which side of the argument can post "OP" the most number of times.
3. Every rant can be justified by saying it 'hurts the newbies'. Examples provided for free by Dr. Narsrim:
4. If someone makes a post which could potentially lead to the nerfing of one of your abilities, no matter how outlandish or stupid their claims are, you HAVE to respond to them with an equally outlandish statement as to why there are no problems with this ability, even if there actually is. This is because by arguing in an equally outlandish way, you will insure that the ability actually gets balanced somewhere in the middle. If you do not follow this rule, your ability will get as ridiculously nerfed as the original poster wants it to.
5. Due to an odd ripple in the space time continuum, the phenomenon known as 'not as good as' seems to always be affecting the guild in which certain people are members. These people are very unfortunate and cannot help their condition, though it is okay to make fun of them for it. For example, person X joins guild Y. Guild Y is now 'not as good as' guild Z. You will learn after spending about 30 minutes on the forums who these people are.
6. Losing xp is bad. Very, very, very, very, very bad. If this EVER happens to you in game, you are OBLIGATED to make a post about it in the Idiots board. Whoever did this to you is an 'idiot' who is 'ruining your experience', and should be tarred and feathered. Probably drug out in the street and shot as well. Don't worry about being alone in your sentiments, anyone else who lost xp at the same time you did will support you. The loss of XP is so bad that when it happens, it will actually ripple through the aethers, out of your computer screen, reflect off of the 3rd moon of Jupiter, and someone who was not even online at the time, but was actually sitting at their grandma's eating meatloaf, will feel an uncomfortable twinge from being struck by this 'xp loss'. Once they get home they will get on the forums and defend you.
7. As a follow up to rule number 6, if you have an ability that allows you to avoid xp loss upon dying, then don't post about it until you have died a second time and actually lost XP. If you do not follow this rule, then God help you. There is no rule that can save you from what is known as 'the forum jihad.'
8. Even though Lusternia is a text based fantasy themed MMORPG that bears no resemblance to reality, comparing it to real life is a valid point to make in virtually any argument.
9. Always assume that Magnagoran players are axe murderers, Celest players are self-righteous Christians, Glomdoring players are wrist cutters, and Serenwilde players are currently sitting at their computer with a teddy bear suit on. If you can somehow reference this in a thread, no matter what the thread is about, you get 3 funny points.
10. If something in game is done for the sake of RP, no matter how annoying, obnoxious, inconvenient or harmful it is to the state of the game, it's ok. Don't bother ranting about it.
11. If you post something you shouldn't, don't worry. A forum bot called 'Shiri' will remove it before anyone has time to see it.
12. You should treat people on the forums the same way you would treat them in game, except that instead of using your abilities, you 'jump' someone with insults. This is known as 'forum RP'. Sometimes people will respond to you with a one line post saying, "STOP THE FORUM RP." Don't worry about these people - they just don't understand.
13. If you click the 'View New Posts' button twice within 20 seconds, you do not get to see any results! You get an error warning about flood control. This isn't a bug, it's a feature. Yes, I know it's annoying.
14. The sentiments in rule 13 apply to a lot of things in game as well.
I had a funny little flow chart for race selection, but the forums won't format it right. Maybe I'll do it in paint when I get home. Now I actually have to stop procrastinating and do work.

QUOTE (Dr. Narsrim @ MD)
"I don't care, but you're slowly eating away at your newbie population unless you give into my demand."
"But the newbies! Christ-on-crutches, we're going to lose our entire playerbase if you don't stop."
"What if the newbies I teach have injured their limbic system resulting in lesions to their hippocampus in their medial temporal lobe thus resulting in having to read things over and over, which they cannot do if you continue to do X, which in turn is power griefing the mentally impaired."

This deserves a sticky...

All true points! Especially the XP loss ones. I've been hit by those beams from Jupiter before and only just managed to control my body and come back to my senses before I posted something I don't even believe in.
