So, I've heard many things about how Zmud sucks. I don't understand why, nor do I really care at the moment. My current situation is as follows: I've played Achaea for quite some time, but have grown disappointed at the lack of... well... anything. Hence my switch to Lusternia. I have a serious interest in Combat. However, I'd like to build my own system. I want to be able to take pride in both my wins and my losses. Granted, I don't think there's anything wrong with using someone else's system - it's just not what I want this time around .
Here's the big question: I'm going to start on Zmud. I understand the basics, but there are some things which I need to incorporate that I simply have never heard of before. I understand the logic behind everything, I just don't know how to put it into play. However, this is where the forums and various other helpful places come up.
My main question is this: Will it be worth it? I'm sure I'll have a good time while I'm doing it. I one day aspire to become a top-tier combatant, however long that may take. But, with what I've heard about Zmud, it discourages me a little. Should I be discouraged?
Also, if there's someone out there who has lots of knowledge regarding Zmud and wouldn't mind mentoring me in the ways of serious scripting, I'd be most appreciative of a PM! I am NOT asking you to:
-Do everything for me
-Hold me hand every step of the way
-Give me everything you've done
I will, however, come to you with questions that may or may not be simple and ask for advice. The thing is, I don't want to spam the forums every time I need a little bit of help, plus this way I can get my foot in the door of the Lusternian community.
Anyways, thanks for reading!

Just ask questions in your thread and you can surely get help with whatever your problem is. There are no problems using zmud despite what people say. There are many people here that fight that use zmud, like myself. Making a system for Lusternia certainly won't be as easy as one for achaea is by far. There are a lot more afflictions and a lot more things to take into consideration and implement in lusternia, wounds being one of those.

zMUD has always had more than its fair share of quirks, but if you get to know it well, it should work well for you. My only concern about zMUD now is that it's no longer supported by the developer, as he's moved on now. (Yes, it is slower than MUSHclient, but it's easier to get started with the scripting, and it comes down to a matter of personal preference, really.)
Vathael is right, though. Ask your questions here and you'll get answers.

Looks like I'll be sticking with Zmud for a while, then!
Also, I'd just like to point out that the forum community here is mucho more welcoming than Achaea, heh.
ETA: Thinking about it, I do have a few questions to shoot right off the bat, heh.
I'm having problems with my auto-sipping. Everything works quite well, it switches priorities, turns on/off, sends alerts, etc. The only problem is when I sip, it's sipping twice. I'm not on my laptop right now, so I can't post the code. So, if anyone knows where I can find an example of a sipper, that would be appreciated!
Is there a way to add additional information to the prompt? For example, I'd like to know when my target is undeaf. I'd like it to look something like:
100h, 100m, 100e, 10p, 1000e, 1000w, ex- ]
I use a substitution for my equilibrium and balance in order to catch it a little better (and the fact that it's aesthetically pleasing and entertains me). Should I trigger balance and EQ tracking to the message sent from the mud and put the substitution after that, or should I just trigger the substituted text?
Thanks a bunch!
