Couldn't find a help file on this.
I heard somewhere if you buy credits, your character will never be Pwiped. But what about if you don't buy credits, how long do you have until daily purges delete your character?

Daily purges only wipe unregistered characters.

You would think so, but you can get deleted for inactivity even with a couple months on a character. I don't know how long it is but it's certainly longer than a day or even a week.

V. About Registering and Inactivity
-----------------------------------
Adventurers may be erased after a period of inactivity which varies from a few
days to a few months. The more play time you have, the longer we wait before
counting you as inactive and removing your character.
Unregistered adventurers may be erased after only a single day of inactivity.
Registered adventurers with only a few minutes of play may still be removed for
inactivity after one to two days.
After a few hours or so of play time, adventurers may last as long as 1-2 weeks
without risk of removal for inactivity.
Adventurers may be inactive somewhat longer, even as long as a month, once play
time is more on the order of twenty to forty hours.

You can suicide though if you haven't bought credits
Unknown2009-02-27 07:07:25
Hrm. My character was inactive for like a year. Is there like a play time breakpoint where you won't get deleted any more?
Estarra2009-02-27 07:13:48
There's a certain point (I'll look it up tomorrow) of online time where your character becomes permanent and will never get deleted (except by suicide).
I still recommend, once you are pretty sure you like your character, to make a small credit purchase to lock that character as permanent (even from suicide). And I'm not saying that to make money for Lusternia (we don't make a lot from $10 purchases), but rather from experience as I've seen no small amount of heartache when a character that one has grown to love has died, either from a wipe or from an impetuous suicide.

If you buy creds from the site for someone else, do they become a permanent character?

yes
Arix2009-02-27 07:36:04
Damn, if I'd known that I would have bought like ten credits for Verithrax while he was shouting at Divine

I had a charachter in Aetolia, who had atleast 100 days of play time on him. He was a city leader at one point etc. But I never bought credits on him. After 2 years I went to check in on him and he was deleted. So best to spend those $10

FYI, it takes 100 hours to lock a character as permanent (unless you buy credits).

Don't you also get a "My soul belongs to Estarra" bumper sticker in the mail too?

That comes when you run out of bonus lessons. Because you bought SO MANY credits. And when the bill hits your account you blink and suddenly go "What the did I just do?" before settling down and enjoying your 1K creddies.
