You raw crucified in the middle of nowhere during that fight, on a contortionist too. You need to ecto for it to work well. Ecto also has the advantage of grinding him to a halt any time you feel like it for 1p. (Havulma you should probably have been using love potion.) Also, you sipped mana instead of health when there was no need to on a couple of occasions.

Ecto comes off with one scrub - I've tried it before and delayed them for all of two seconds. I got equi back after them, usually. I crucified because I'd placed a deathmark on him, and didn't notice it had disappeared.

Firstly, ecto always delays them for four seconds, and that's if they don't attack into it by accident or lag for a split second or get unlucky with a contagion proc or something, at which point you can wind for more (for example) or otherwise hinder them from curing it. Secondly, crucify without ecto isn't even that broken and doesn't usually stick that long, so you should usually make an effort to get ecto on them even with deathmark.

Also, you were spamming shrivel for no obvious reason during some point in that, but that was probably alias issues.

No. That was hoping to break momentum, without realising I was boned.

Ok. Well, shrivel is kind of an ineffective way of breaking momentum compared to your other options, for an ur'guard anyway.

A good way to stop momentum is bashbrains.

I got more or less screwed sparring Havulma a few days ago because I forgot about monk momentum. I was too tanky to actually die, though, and got out with Moondance Full.

What does break momentum? Does paralyse do it? Does aeon? How does it work?

A good way to stop momentum gain is toading them.



On a more serious note, momentum goes up a level everytime they successfully attack with a kata move. If they successfully attack you with a kata move again within a 5 second timeframe, it goes up a level again provided they don't use momentum losing attacks/mods. If they don't make it within that timeframe, momentum drops by 1 level. Not a monk though! May be wrong.

I think the timer is 4 seconds, not 5 (which means amongst other things that ecto will always do it instead of only sometimes.) Haven't tested recently, but dodge used to screw me for more than one level before that was changed.

Four seconds. Two with a soap bar, according to testing. Means I need another way.

What you should have done is not fight monks.
