So I'm here procrastinating Calculus, as well as annoyed that i currently am not that great at combat. I'm not sure if it's my inability to cure or administer good strategies or maybe even just not having enough lessons in anything. (I have nothing in Resilience or magic or lowmagic + I'm illithoid. so anything magic = )

I just need to know what is holding me back. I think I'm like currently the only psymet monk I've ever seen actually fighting. And i don't mind that, psymet's cool. I've been fighting decently i guess. I usually beat others around my might and higher for certain archetypes. But that's only solo, if i get ganked by two or more persons I'm done. And I've really only killed others with help or in the arena. Sooo....yeah. Any positive advice? I'm trans Nekotai, myth psymet and expert stealth i think.

You're insane Casilu, you don't need to know what you're doing at all to be a tank as a Lobo, just get enchanted robes and you no longer die.

Harmony helps too, because I'm currently running around with level 8 health regeneration. Ha ha ha.

Yeah, you do when you're fighting more than one person. Enchanted robes don't make much of a difference when you have two warriors beating on you.

Yeah being a tank means more than surviving while bashing on weevils.

The good advice will pour in when the right people notice the topic, I think. But here's my two cents:

As for curing, if you don't have a curing system, get one pronto. The selection depends on which client you're on, MUSH is currently best represented, with Treant and AG 2.0. Studying your opponents is also important, and the more you fight the better you'll get at recognizing alarming situations. Also, I doubt anyone your might can really expect to beat/survive two people who know what they're doing ganking you, so just learn to run!

As for lessons, you should probably post your AB to get advice on what to invest in. (And start writing Bardics/drawing Artisanals.)

Also, yeah, strategies are important, and again, you'll flesh them out in time and with experience. However, since monks should be getting fixed soon (we've been saying that "soon" for months now...), you'll probably have to make up new strategies all over again, so that sucks. Can't give any monk-specific advice since I've never been one, so that's all from me.

Nekotai combat is very linear. You need to get 5 momentum, fast. Abandon everything else and make sure everything you do has a speed mod on it. Afflictions before 5 momentum generally aren't worth it. Once you get five, use a slitlock form with nekcree, nekreve, shocree and use senso/dulak on it, boosted. Unless you're unlucky, you'll probably stick a lock, then kaife your momentum back to five and start stacking higher momentum afflictions until they cure. Or, if you feel lucky, envenom a crotamine dart beforehand, kaife back to five momentum, and finalsting.
