Yeah, okay, I admit it. I'm kind of burnt out on Lusternia right now. And before you ask, no, it's not because of any specific player, or event, or because of anyone doing anything. I'm just very burnt out on the game right now. And I'm not sure why.
It could be a variety of factors. Maybe it's because I find combat to be mostly inaccessible (and I play a monk here, folks). Maybe it's not one player, but many, and their arguments amongst each other have made me weary. Or maybe I've just played far too darn much (I do admit to logging in a lot of hours today, due to lack of anything else do to in my life right now ). I honestly don't know.
But this is not going to be a woe-is-me thread. I am not going to quit, I have every intention to keep playing. So what I want to do with this thread is to make it a more general thread, where people can post ideas about how to make Lusternia fun again for the individual player who's burnt out. So what do you do when the thrill goes? How do you make it come back? What can others do to make it fun to play once more? Stuff like that. So on that note, get posting! I'd love to see your ideas on this matter! And I'm sure other burnt-out Lusternians would too.

Switch guilds. People like to flame "guildhoppers" but I find switching guilds is the easiest way to stay interested.
I'm about to switch again.

Alting, as stated before, is the best way to get the thrill back. It's not your fault about combat, though. The entry level into it requires so many skills as well as Demigod, since most skills are balanced around it these days. Trying out other IRE games is pretty good too, but trust me.. You're one of many who is burnt out with Lusternia right now. In my spare time, I've been trying to get into WoW, keeping busy with school, and helping a friend of mine build his MUD. All of these have been pretty engaging and have kept me occupied.

Just stop logging in.
Then when you get bored one day and think 'I wonder what's happening on lusternia', log back in.

Hmmm -- nothing seems to matter
Hmmm -- here's my heart on a silver platter
Where's my will?
Why this strange desire
That keeps mounting higher
When I look at you?
I cannot keep still
You're my thrill

Have to agree with Aison... ONE DAY you will wonder what is up. It will happen, it ALWAYS happens... and -that- is how you get your groove back!
Zalandrus2009-03-30 00:06:30
Yea, try out an alt. The first 50 levels or so will come quickly, you'll be learning new cool skills, and you'll be interacting with different people. Try a completely different city/commune, maybe even with a cool RP thrown in...

Take a break, don't even try and settle for second bests or hopelessly strive for something to reignite that spark. Just step back, there's other things to do in life.

I don't know about you, but the forums are what burn me out on these games sometimes. Attaching players' egos to their characters ruins some of the magic for me and makes me feel burdened, paranoid, and so many other things. Force yourself to take a break, get plenty of sleep, eat lots of fruits and fiber, and come back when you are ready!
Oh
What Furien said.

Do something different. If you mostly fought, try doing culture things. If you mostly hunted, try doing quests. If you mostly got involved in OOC clans, try working on guild history or roleplay. If you mostly ground for experience, write a book.
Sometimes changes like that require guildhopping or switching to an alt, if your character has gotten firmly settled into situations where people have expectations about you, or you have responsibilities. But not always. Try seeing if you can do it without hops first, and if not, then try hopping.
Another thing that can help is to set a single, achievable but not easy, goal. Not "become a demigod ascendant top tier fighter" but something more like "reach level N" or "win four spars" or "get a new honors line" or something. Push aside other things you do in favor of that one thing and focus on it. This can help you find a new joy in things you forgot about, or lost in the distraction of doing too many things because you should, not because you want to.

Don't feel too bad on the combat part. I'm working hard to try to get into combat, and after about 50 solid hours working on my combat system and parsing through combat logs, I still can't win a fight. It's hard when the only people who want to fight with you are thirty levels higher than you and 500% of your might.
Then again, as I've said before, the problem may be my choice of warrior spec...
Regardless, don't let that get you down. There's lots else to do in Lusternia. The key is to remember that they game isn't there to entertain you, it's there to give you a way to entertain yourself.

Go out and cause some trouble. It makes the game far more interesting.

Pick up a hobby. I tried improvisational comedy, and I perform about once a week. It gets me away from the computer.
Granted, once you've gotten away from your computer, it's hard to find a reason to come back sometimes...

Most Trill it seems are Celestines. Yes, I habitually check RWHO.
