Hello again, welcome to another curious thread.

Today, I would appreciate it if someone did not mind expounding the and of the finer points of Blademaster. This includes skills, weapons, and other gear. Scimitars would be my ideal, but I am told anything but rapiers are useless. A sacrifice easily made.

Any and all advice appreciated- really, feel free to share the unabridged version.

Thank you.

Scimitars are worthless right now, high prec/speed rapiers are what you need to look into right now for combat or just 70+damage/280 speed for bashers. Combat wise you can either do the main thing most all Blademasters do and just hit left leg and pinleg constantly which isn't really fun or interesting on either side. Collapsenerve is a heavy level regen aff which is used to keep you from healing hemiplegy. Hemiplegy will prevent you from standing if you are prone. Tendon is somewhat worthless in just single uses since you can sip allheale to cure it. Though there are plenty of things you can do to keep your opponent from standing or holding any form of an offense. Morphite is the main poison of choice for this class and since rend has a chance to hit with a poison you get a variety of options there in its own. Throat lock as BM only uses senso so you don't have to worry about sticking two different poisons to lock someone up and if your target is proned with collapsenerve you can easily lock off just that. Disembowel is worthless, wouldn't even suggest messing with it. You'd want about 90/90 for plate stats.

Thank you! I mean that smile.gif

With that in mind...

What about wounding? I am fresh to the concept. As it was explained to me, I will want to track the number of wounds to concentrate on giving afflictions.

- Does a person give a consistent amount of wounds per type of attack between different targets depending on his personal stats and gear, or does it vary according to their defenses also?

- The big one: How do you recommend tracking wounds and an opponent's curing them? My dilemma is that I would like to avoid typing full names if possible (the flurry of text leaves me reeling), and if I switched targets the tracking would be reset (without some pretty extensive work on my part), so variables seem unwieldy.

..just track wounds by what afflictions you are giving. If you are cutting someones throat you know you're at heavy wounds. If you cut someones head off, you know they are at critical wounds. If you impale, heavy wounds, etc. Your wounds are consistent based on your equipment, your str, and what combatstyle you are using. Other variables that affect wounding are armour/robe stats and things of the sort. Just.. trigger off your attack lines to make big colorful alerts pop up on afflictions you want to take note of like I have knockdown, breaknse, breakchest, windpipe, breakleg, crushleg all with alerts so I can see when I get them. Could also highlight parry and stance lines so you know when you hit those but you can generally tell when you get balance back faster than normal you hit parry/stance or just missed completely. I for one don't really pay attention to the text scrolling by, just glance at the alerts and different color of things and know what's going on.

As you practice combat more and more, you will eventually reach a point where you're barely even reading at all and you can just glance at a screen of combat text and instinctively recognize what's going on and which bits are important. Until you get there, gags and echoes and highlights help.

Yeah, but at that point it's kind of moot, neh?
Narsrim2009-04-07 22:13:11
If you cut off someone's head. They die. At this point, they are at zero wounds. Geez.

... yeah. I think if you cut someone's head off, they are a bit beyond critical, to DEAD.

So how exactly does sleeplock work? I know it involves keeping a leg pinned and having them being hit my morphite eventually putting them to sleep but won't they just wake up when you hit them? The pinleg is supposed to keep them from putting up insomnia but what does it accomplish because they'll wake up the moment you hit them next or the moment they type wake up because you can't strip their kafe. Is it just a strategy to keep them in one place by having them fall asleep every so often?

Rend with morphite.

Well ya I get that its just whats the point of that? Won't their system just wake them up in like less than .5 seconds because they have kafe up?
Unknown2009-04-08 19:15:24
Rending morphite doesn't do damage, therefore it strips kafe if they're already asleep.

Shuyin sucks at the sleeplock.

sometimes, words can hurt almost as much as any shank to the abdomen

I've admittedly never yet encountered anyone using this, but couldn't you just... metawake?

If you're short, ankle-shanks (or shankles) can work too.
