So this is my 24th time rerolling (which might be my problem because I never really stay long enough to get into the fun part) and I was just curious if there was anything in Lusternia that was a heavy support role, just a class or profession that helps others and is a benefit to the community in some way like healing or Resurrecting players from the dead?. Also what is a good money making kind of career in Lusternia? besides selling credits .

Well Moondancers can be Healers and have a resurrection skill that works across the plane. If I recall it's the only skill that does so, but it's been a while since I looked at the other spiritual based guilds.

Bard or Celestine would be your best bet for that. Bards have many support songs that help in various ways depending on the Music specialization, and Celestines have access to Healing and Astrology, two heavily supportive skillsets along with Rituals and Sacraments (where Resurrection, and it's big sister Sacrifice) is. Both have access to heavy money-making skills. Bards have access to Alchemy and Enchantment (depending on if you choose High or Lowmagic), and specialize into Brewmeister and Tinkerer. It's a bit too early to say how economically viable Brewmeister and Tinkerer are at this point in time since they were just introduced, but Alchemy and Enchantment hold the brews/spells that is in heaviest demand. If you become Celestine, you can take Enchantment and specialize into Spellcraft, which has some viable enchantment spells and is the specialization that can enchant paintings and statues.
Another possible option, that I cannot be certain off since I have no experience with it, would be to become a Moondancer. It seems that the Moon specialization in Totems have some pretty good supportive skills like Resurgem (group resurrection from far away) and Harvest (experience boost), along with access to Healing and Astrology. You'll also be able to access to Alchemy's second specialization, Lorecraft. You have access to purgatives, fire, frost and Vitae. Along with multiple perfumes and some fun oils.
A last option would be to go Mage and Druid. It's not supportive in the same way Celestine/Moondancer/Bard is, but the demesne aspect of their specialization is vital for group combat. The group with a good demesner on their side have a great advantage due to all the passive areawide attacks it can pelt on the opposing group. Mages have access to Enchantment/Spellcraft and Druids access to Alchemy/Lorecraft.
Let's see... oh yeah. Herbs is also a good money-making skill available to everyone with Low Magic, but for that same reason everyone and their mother and dog is a herbalist. It's a harsh competition to see who can undercharge the most.
And I think that's all the advice I can give. Hope you have better luck with this reroll.

Kira's post sums it up pretty well. Just to add about herbalism, it is indeed one of the better moneymakers, and a lot of people do take it, but not everyone who takes it has the patience to sit there doing something even more repetitive then bashing.

Influencing and esteem for the win!

Also consider joining an order with a lot of avatars. If you die, one of them can resurrect you, but it is extremely expensive for them to do so, and so they usually only reserve it for those who die in defense and can't conglut themselves.

Bards and mages/druids are going to be what you think of as support classes. There isn't a lot of rezzing in lusternia done with player skills. If somone can grab your body they'll just toss you in your nexus and boom, all better.
For the most part resurrection skills either require the person doing the resurrection to kill themself or takes multiple people. Usually, people just rely on defenses that will bring them back from the dead, there are several, or hope somone will grab their corpse. Most pvp combat is off plane or in special circumstances where people will just automatically rez at their nexus.

Not as much as it used to be, but I still see plenty of resurgems in Serenwilde.

Kids, these days, spoiled by their free immolations.
Kiradawea2009-04-14 18:08:46
Resurrection has a power cost, but when you think about it, that cost is only 4 power more than it takes you to teleport back and forth for immolation if you target someone. It's great, especially when you for some reason can't get back to prime swiftly, for example if you're on an aetherbubble.
And Bards/Mages do not have access to Healing and Astrology. Two very, if not the most, supportive skills. Especially when it comes to hunting.

A bard's entire song spec is used for buffing allies/hindering enemies. O.o They were made originally as a support class, but then they got a little more 1vs1 viability due to bards not wanting to be total support.
Esano2009-04-15 01:42:15
I would have to say an Astrologer Moondancer. Resurgem, spheres, maiden fae. Astrology rather than healing because healing is much more specific (generally combat/hunting, and can be replaced with normal cures) and spheres can benefit everyone (and can't be replaced).
Unknown2009-04-15 01:59:35
Nihilist astrologer or Celestine healer, I think. Lichseed+spheres+chanting or Ress+healing+chanting.

Thank you all for the infomation, made my choice quite easier . although i am not sure what spheres, resurgems are but maybe i will learn that in time.
