Nerf magelock. It is a clear disparity that mages can freeze lock doors and communes can't do anything about it. Especially if the door is reinforced. This disparity must be addressed.

Everyone knows you're pyscho. You don't have to keep trying to prove it!

Honestly, after seeing Magelock in action...
... he's got a point here.
40 minutes with a monolith sigil and a magelocked door == easy Domoth.

Three stupid threads in 3 minutes.
Its almost like Gregori wants the last 3 people who pay attention to him to stop.

Ignite door "direction". that's my suggestion.

Hey, I am just jumping on the bandwagon of bringing up a problem and addressing it through a completely different manner.

Peas are yummeh.
Noola2009-04-23 01:47:03
When I was a little kid, my mom and dad would sing a duet of, "All we are saaaaaaying, is give peas a chaaaance!" Whenever me and my sisters would make grossed out noises about having to eat english peas at supper.
I only like them raw, in other things like salads.

On the other hand, that was also just really, really lucky!

I kept knocking on your door and all you'd do is knock back
Why didn't you open it?
Shaddus2009-04-23 02:39:11
Here's an idea. If a door is magelocked, it drastically reduces the amount of doorblast/crashes it takes to drop it. I mean hell, the door is FROZEN. Sort of.

It was a reinforced door. No crashing allowed.
Gregori2009-04-23 02:47:31
Reinforced doors really should not be in areas other than stockrooms or manses. Builders should be restricted in the doors they use (this isn't a rant on builders, just a observation) due to the fact that situations can arise where people can lock themselves behind a reinforced door and be immune to threat. This is really bad in situations where the room they are in falls into the 'all sides must have equal chance to get into it' category.
As for magelock, ignite should unfreeze it. Mages, I believe, would still hold an advantage since they don't expend charges to unfreeze the door, but it allows those who are not mages a chance to get in.

Yeah. Once that cube is drained 1000 ignites later, you'll never get in!

How thick is a normal door in lusternia? I've always assumed they're made fairly sturdy, given how many barges it takes to break them down (for reference, I can knock down any regular house door with a single solid side-kick, so long as the bolt is set in wood and not reinforced metal)... so lets assume three inches of wood.
Now, go out and buy a three inch thick block of ice. Brace it against something. Now, try and punch/chop/kick/knee/headsmash through it.
When the doctor releases you, come back and make the argument that frozen things break easily again.
Also, yes yes, I do have a bit of bitterness about this.
Eventru2009-04-23 08:05:00
Where is there a reinforced door outside of a stockroom? Not stating as a matter of policy, but I'm happy to look into having it changed.
