I was thinking all guards should be made brave, or not brave, just the same type. Having brave guards means that you can influence them easier with empower, which gives the guards a nice little boosts when dealing with enemies. Not that city guards can't be influence with empower, it's just a lot more difficult to do. People don't tend empower them as much since it takes a lot more rounds to influence and quite a bit more bromides. The current city guards are set as intimidating, so even if you were to try to use what is good against them (paranoid) they aren't affected by it, and nothing really would be gained by it . So I think all guards should be changed to be the same.

Guard influencing is already an exp-faucet. Why make it easier? Also, I think that guard influencing should be deleted.

False. I did daughters, fae, elfen, Tosha, a little kephera influencing. Guard influencing was only minimal.

Not really the point, if guards are able to be influenced they should all be on equal footing. Wouldn't you agree?

No, I don't agree. Equality makes things boring.

Fine give warriors the power to kill anyone they want, any where, without consequence, and not give anyone anything to counter, or anything other skills then they have now. That's not boring, right?

QFT
Guard influencing is completely ridiculuous.

Not boring. The victims would forever be on alert, and the warriors will forever be on the hunt.

That's incredibly boring. Gero, stop trying to be clever.

I think what he's getting at is that some organization's guards are considered 'brave' and thus easier to influence (and thus offer quicker exp) than the guards of other organizations, and that this ought to be remedied, somehow.
(I feel like saying this because everyone above seemed to have been missing the point, unless I'm in the wrong here.)

edit: regarding influencing in general, since what Furian said is, apparently, true.
First, I'm going to say no because it's a poorly though out idea from someone who, apparently, doesn't have all the information. For one, guards are influenced non stop, and as a former Seren, you can't not know this. Two, guards can only be influenced with empower, so the point you tried to make about paranoia is entirely lost on me.
Secondly, I'm going to say no because afk guard influencing is the new xp highway. It's ridiculously easy. People thought Astral was bad and bitched about it, and it was nerfed. At least there was a risk involved. At least you had to be somewhat prepared and conscious to survive on Astral, and you were mechanically forced to take breaks. Guards have none of this. No risk what so ever. You can slip into a coma and still auto influence them, and you can do it, literally, forever or until you run out of guards.
I can name a few people who firmly stated they never afk guard influence, and lo and behold, they were caught in a lie. Some were caught repeatedly. Guard influencing is a spammy mess of an xp faucet that needs to be erased, not made easier.
And for the record, the sheer number of influencing buffs makes this request absurd. Get a beast, throw on some of that nasty musk or whatever you should use, get a throne/beauty, trans dramatics/influence, go high cha race and influencing is far and away more efficient than bashing could ever be.
So again I say
No.
edit: If you want to make them all the same, fine. Just not brave. Out of principle.

Or you run out of bromide.
Shiri2009-06-01 06:37:28
The rate of guard xp is much lower than Astral. And there was really no risk with Astral - at least, no risk of not gaining a gigantic net profit at any given time you tried it. The only "risk" was that people could screw you over by unstoppably (for some teams) getting you killed every time you try, whereas you couldn't realistically do the same thing back - all that meant was you might, depending on org, have to wait until they gtfo before doing it (and then still reap higher rewards than someone who had been solo influencing guards the whole time). Also, everyone could do it at the same time, and for days at a time, unlike guards.
Casilu2009-06-01 06:37:32

Guard influencing is ridiculously easy as evidenced by the fact that every body and their dog takes up influence instead of anything else and just guard influences.
Serenwilde get 3 new people 2 of those will be guard influencing within minutes of leaving Newton.
You are correct, it is not the same animal as Astral, it is worse. -EVERYBODY- can guard influence.
Edit:: You yourself, one of the best bashing classes there is... guard influence constantly.
Edit: Also, just as a reference. When a novice asks me what they should be hunting, I tell them not to bother. Learn influence and hit the guards. Why? Because it is better than cake for breakfast.
Shiri2009-06-01 06:54:36
@Gregori: I would bash if I had any incentive to, honestly, but ascendance and cult powers are simply not worth bashing for. I just get esteem for shrines this way, even though it's slower (you'll also find I do it while writing stuff like adjusting the enemies book, since I can just influence a guard, write, check back a minute later and start another guard, etc.)
Guard influencing -is- really good at low levels, particularly in Serenwilde since we tend to have a lot of elfens and faelings, but it's still nowhere near as bad as old Astral. Maybe it needs a nerf due to how easy it is for lower-levelled people to farm with it, but certainly not because of any comparison you could make to Astral farming (which everyone could do, btw, you only needed like adept planar and to sit in the swarm. Solanis didn't even have that and he still got huge chunks of XP out of it.)
