From the post listed in the Common Grounds, I've taken the initiative and started a post for ideas that are not combat orientated but affect the world in other ways.
My Idea:
Have a power somewhere in the chain that affects the commune/city in some particular way. For instance, let's say Nejii is an ascendant from Serenwilde, Gwynevere is an ascendant from Celest, Thoros from Magnagora, and Talan from Glomdoring.
Nejii, being a citizen of Serenwilde, can grant his commune a +1 or +2 to a Stat of his choice. (Dex, Strength, Int, Cha, etc). By doing this, there would be a world emote and a common area emote.
"A glimpse of green light echoes out from the Serenwilde Forest, bathing it in a sublime aura that glows powerfully for a moment before dissipating."
"You watch in awe as a green light washes over you, filling you with renewed strength and power, before fading away."
*tosses her two cents in and walks off*

You said not combat oriented but giving a stat buff like in your example would be purely combat oriented ...
Xiel2009-06-02 00:48:19
It'd be better off if we had skills which impacted combat less, actually. Statistical additions like that would raise the zomg-ohpea flag quickly.
I'm still wanting to make Consumption not suck as an ability. Considering that as a SS, I have no way to make someone bleed copious amounts to make the skill worthwhile at all for the negative side of it inducing insanity, I'd rather just make it into a skill that all Ascendants would have a fair chance at using. Consuming player/denizen corpses for personal essence perhaps? I'd use it to beef up my own essence gain even if it does cause me to move up an insane level every million or so essence eaten. :/

Okay. I can see how that could affect combat now that I look at it. What would you suggest?
Perhaps a flavor skill of some sort. They could, perhaps, imbue a part of themselves into their nexus, granting all who tapped into that month a certain "aura"?
"Xiel stands here, an aura of the Moonhart Tree shimmering about him benevolently"
Xiel2009-06-02 00:51:36
Flavour skills are a plus too.
Daganev2009-06-02 01:00:55
I think they just need to make Cults work independent of an actual working Order.
Other flavor skills include:
The ability to create and Prog your own "pet"/nimbus/non sentient/non beasty pet.
The ability to send a tell to all your personal allies/enemies/proteges (like your own personal one way channel)
Advanced ventriquilism
Advanced impersonate

Maybe something to where anyone from your organization gets a level 1 regen of health/mana/ego on an aetherbubble if you are there as well.
Richter2009-06-02 01:05:41
The ability to turn your opponent's nexus different colors, a la Lisaera and Elostian.
Noola2009-06-02 01:34:54
What about world emotes? Maybe an early ability would have it just be visible in the room the VA/TA is in, then the area, then the Plane, and finally everywhere.
Maybe the ability to turn someone into something else? It only lasts a tiny amount of time and both you and the person you're targeting have to have completely full health, mana and ego for it to work. It'd strictly be a roleplay thing.
What about the ability to make really temporary items. They'd only last like five minutes, and then they'd vanish. They'd be generic, no custom descriptions, and you can only create one or two at a time, but you could 'create' a bolder or a chair or a table or a bed or cat or whatever as a prop. Like, imagine you're wanting to chat with some lesser mortal, you literally draw up a chair for each of you and sit. After a few minutes, the chair dissolves back into the aether it came from.
I'll try to think of more interesting things.

An ability that lets your resurrect fallen allies at a hefty essence cost. Or a cult ritual that allows all members in your local area to conglutiate upon death, with a cost to begin and maintain as well as for each death.

That'd be kinda combaty wouldn't it?

Existing (non-Cult) skills and some (minor) tweaks to them:
Clairsentience: Give the option to spend more essence (say, 3x the essence) to scry Demigods and Ascendants instead of just Ascendants. (Not really necessary, just a little more useful utility). Note: Clairsentience only shows you the location of people in your organization. People from other organizations just gets the general plane that they're on, and the "include Demigod" version should work the same way.
Destruction: This suffers from being Int based, on a skillset that is... general. Would be nice (for me, though Gregori and Sarrasri will object!) if it was divorced from intelligence and given a flat rate for everyone. Which would actually let me be able to use it for hunting-- I've done some calculations, and it's pretty much strictly worse to use Destruction over weapons due to the essence cost (for example, if something takes 8 hits and gives 1000 essence, you've cut off 1/5th of the essence gain of that mob for a slight boost in killing speed. Which is less than 20%, given the low int).
Flight: It would be nice if this gave SOME extra boost. Maybe allow us to use another syntax for a levitation enchantment or something... there are so many other ways to get flight that it's kind of pointless to those of us who have multiple other ways.
Portal: Maybe some way to be able to use it from non-standard planes? It already can't be used in distortion, or on monoliths.
Consumption: Xiel has addressed it above.
Omniscience: I really like using this skill, but it's not really a trans skill... it's worthy of mythical, or 50% mythical, but Aegis is a stronger ability in general. Though it would be nice for new skills, too...
Cults: A lot of points have already been made in the past about Cults. I'm not sure if you want them raised again.

I agree, ascendance needs a dominate move. For RP.
Xiel2009-06-02 01:50:32
I personally love having Flight as it is. Free 400cr, hellew. Besides, I think other things could use more tweaking than this awesome flight already.

How about letting Demigods (and Demigods +) choose a single stat as their primary stat? For example, Xenthos could POWERFOCUS STRENGTH, which would make strength the stat used for zaps and Destruction.

That would be cool.
But I'd have to choose dex.

Or size, actually, considering I'd be at 25 all the time just to block effectively, hrm.

They'd have to disallow size as an option.
