Bank Transfers

I think it would be nice if it was possible to do a direct transfer to another player's bank account from either your personal account or from the city coffers/Treasury. From person-to-person could be taxable. This would allow for transfer of money securely and instantaneously between players who might be on different schedules. For transfers from the city/guild, this could allow for wages to be assigned more easily than consigning, allocating, withdrawing and distributing, which altogether is a fairly drawn out process. It would be appended to the revlog, obviously.

Ie, BANK TRANSFER 2000 GOLD TO ESTARRA if I wanted to take 2000 gold from my bank and put it in Estarra's. A 2% handling charge could be placed here if desired.

Ie2, CITY BANK TRANSFER 2000 GOLD TO EVENTRU FOR BEING AN AWESOME PATRON if I wanted to take 2000 gold from the Treasury and put it in Eventru's. No handling charge should be applicable here.

I think it would be nice to have, and I can't think of a reason that would make it 1) any more abusable than the current setup or 2) difficult to code.

You could just mail it.
Ilyarin2009-06-13 11:53:05
Sure, but bank transfers would be 1) instant, 2) able to skip the withdraw/go to post office/buy letter/write letter/put in gold/mail letter steps and 3) more secure.

I like it.
Noola2009-06-13 15:25:14
I like it too!

I'd like it if I actually had a personal bank account!
Aidyn2009-06-14 15:35:18
At first I was going to dissent, but after having reviewed the HELP BANKS file, I rather agree. That is, withdrawing money already costs you 2% of the total, and when you add 200 for a letter it would actually be more expensive to not have a system like this. Kudos on the idea. Seems so simple and logical.

I like the Idea it can really work.

isn't the letters just 100 gold?

I wouldn't put a large sum of money in an unpreserved letter in case of whacky screw ups >_>

I like the idea of transferring gold to gods...
Estarra2009-06-14 18:31:39
Seriously, I have no issues with the idea of transferring gold between players for fees (steeper fees if it is to different banks). However, I haven't thought deeply on the difficulty that may rise to tweaking the banking system or how much people would really want us to divert resources on this idea. Priorities! Has there been issues with moving gold around that is prompting this?
Kelysa2009-06-14 18:40:43
Probably is more practical to do most transactions in person if possible. Losing 4% og the gold if you transfer to someone else, then they withdraw. Alright pretty easy to just withdraw the gold, and deposit it in an org/order/guild/clan.
Ilyarin2009-06-14 18:59:32
Since there will be a withdrawal fee on the other end, perhaps there should be no cost for transferring money from your bank to another citizen's account. A 1-2% fee could be applicable for transferring to a player in another org (and the money should go to their org's bank too). It's not really a massively useful change, I'll admit, but it would definitely be nice to have and would save the hassle of withdrawing and then mailing and/or finding the person. All that brought the idea on was a simplification of the process! smile.gif

The only issue I've had is the 15 lonely gold sovereigns sitting in the Glomdoring bank that I can't get to because I've never been allowed in Glomdoring sad.gif. Poor, poor sovereigns.
