For those of us who are changelings, it would be nice if we were able to set a stored description of each race that we can be, and it will automatically switch to that when we changeling.
For example:
SET DESC FAELING
SET DESC ELFEN
SET DESC GNOME (!)
SHOW DESC FAELING
Etcetera. When you CHANGELING INTO FINK (!) it would automatically change to what you had set. Yes, you can set a script for this, but "set it and forget it" almost always wins.

If that could work for changeself illusions, too, that'd be swell.

You don't even need a script, you just need an alias for each race.
changetae
CHANGELING INTO TAE'DAE
DESCRIBE SELF he is covered in brown fuzzy fur.

I don't know, I like this idea. Richter admits it's easily accomplished with a client side solution, but I like it because sometimes, things client side explode. And naughty people like me sometimes forget to back up settings files. And if I don't have a log or an updated text file with my different race descriptions, I'm starting from memory which means from scratch. Nice little idea, in my opinion.

Plus, it means not having to spam yourself with the description every time you change. I, for example, would buy something if it cut down on unnecessary or nasty-looking spam
Of course I'm not suggesting this cost extra!

I agree, if changelings can do this, illusionists should be allowed to, too. Again though, it's easy enough, client-side...
I'd like the idea, though, I think it'd encourage people to develop more alternate descriptions.

Besides offering a solution(aliases, all decent clients (afaik) has the option to parse the alias without local echo. Is that not enough to cut down spam?
I'm fairly certain it's MUCH easier to implement client-side and not server-side.
Also, I'd rather see more lag from unnecessary perks on the client-side and not on the server-side.

Complainers! I do fine with one description, you should probably learn how to as well.
Richter2009-06-16 06:13:41
I get made fun of for looking like a tae'dae as a changeling, because my description didn't change. You'd think it'd be as automatic as... actually changing. It actually doesn't make sense for your description not to change.

I miss when demigods didn't show up as their race in their descs.

I made my description more generic when I became a changeling, so now it only describes the common features, but it does feel rather bland. The client-side thing is simple enough. It's mostly just a matter of waiting for that creative inspiration to write so many descriptions and store them.

Same.
Hardest thing is when you turn into a krokani and you have the word "eyes" in your description. I think I tried to make it ambiguous by using the word "gaze" or something.

Yeah, I make Arin's desc very generic but akin to a changeling.
After all, changeling is a 'special' race and I basically make Arin's desc very fluid and possessing traits of all the races.
This goes as well when he goes Nejii and changes gender with his mirror.
