I've been told there is a softcap on 2handed kata weapon speed. Anyone know about where that softcap is statwise? Trying to find a 215+ tahto is painful at best and impossible at worst.
Thanks.
Thanks.

It's not so much a soft cap as just the fact that the chances of forging one is going to be damned near impossible. There's only been 3 215+'s that I've seen. Narsrim's, Revan's, and can't remember the third.

215 is usually considered the 'cap'. You could theoretically get higher, but it wouldn't have an effect unless you got up to 220 because speed impacts your balance recovery only in intervals of 5. Getting 220 raw speed is impossible as far as I know, but you can technically reach it with a racial weapon bonus.

Aye, just from what I know of forging and probability/statistics, I know that 220 is the max possible speed for a 2h kata weapon and that attaining that is so improbable as to be impossible. I'm looking for a 215+, because I realize that the speed increments in intervals of 5's. But considering runes and other bonuses, at what point does more speed on a 2h kata weapon become negligible. Will a 215 runed +30 to 245 be essentially the same speed as a 210 runed +30 up to 240? The soft cap, I was told, means that you can't get any faster than a 2second delay on a 2h kata weapon, if I understood correctly.

From what I've heard from monks, additional speed over 215 does make a noticable difference. A kephera wielding a runed tahto will definitely hit faster than a human wielding the same tahto without runes. Whether it's enough to be worth the rune cost is something an actual monk will have to answer.

Yea, with a 210 speed tahto with one +5 rune, I noticed a difference between kephera bashing and human bashing. There was a small difference when I first got the rune too. And another difference when you put up akhang.

No, 220 is more than likely the cap. There are two 218 jakaris (or have been, at some point). A 220 is the mathmatical sister to the 110 shofa/nekais, but unlike the 110s, the likelyhood of landing one is somewhere in between being able to locate Michael Jackson's real nose, and getting in a three way sword fight atop a free-rolling water wheel over a key to a treasure chest containing the still beating heart of a cursed pirate captain.
You best bet is to offer a credit bounty for the first person to get you a 215+. If it is large enough, you'll get a bite. Eventually.
Ooooor, you could get 210, which takes a few hours typically, live with the difference for a while, and see what becomes of the monk changes, kata weapon forging/tempering when the dust settles.

Also, keep this in mind. The difference in speed between a 210 and a 215 probably isn't worth the PRICE difference between a 210 and a 215.

What changes? I'm convinced it's not going to happen anytime soon.

Sadly, my legendary jakari has passed on to the now slumbering Lanfayr, who runed it. It would be good to see it in action again
