Mostly everyone knows I'm inept at fighting, having spent the last five years doing everything but fighting. You need 2 or 3 momentum to use that much weight in a kata, try "slash1 slash1 smash2" that should work. You only get that message when you don't have enough momentum to perform the kata.

Ah, I'm just low on momentum... I swore this combo used to work (mainly because Jozan taught it to me). I wonder if I'm using the most optimized hunting forms.

You need to be mo2 for the second form to work, and you start off at mo0. That is, in your example, you go from mo0 to mo1 (using your starter form), but to go from mo1 to mo2, you need to use that starter form again. THEN you can use further forms.
