I was wondering where we should submit ideas for upcoming in-game plots? I have a cool idea for a plot and I want to see if the Divine and/or Admins would like to read it, but I don't know if that's possible, or if it is, how I should do it. I know in the HELP NEWS in-game file there's mention of a section in the News lists called Plots, but whenever I enter a newsroom or use NSTAT I can't find it. So is there an in-game way to submit plot ideas (other than the IDEA command...let's just say that without the use of the in-game composer at least for the IDEA command it's kind of awkward to type one's idea through that)? Or should I post my idea here in the forums?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

You need to be over level 50 and have 200(?) hours of play time to see and post to the plots board, but it's definitely there!
Kiradawea2009-08-04 06:16:24
See? Oh, you mean know that it is there? Because I'm pretty sure only Gods are allowed to read the Plots Newsboard, but yeah it's there. If you want I can help you submit it.

Yea - you can post them on the Plots Board, which is really the best way to get us to notice them. I think the required hours is 300 - you cannot -read- anything on it, however you should be able to go into the news, and then SECTION PLOTS, WRITE.
Realize that you probably will get 0 response to any suggestions you make, even if we do use it - and if we do decide to use some/all of it, chances are it will be drastically changed from your original idea. It's never intended to be a commentary on the suggestions you guys give us - even our own events change a lot from the initial proposal to the final outline! And sometimes, they change even mid-event!
The Plots board is also where you guys should post mortal builder applications, which are currently left open indefinitely, and also where you can post Area proposals/ideas if there's anything that you've got seriously floating around your head! Granted, it's much more likely we'll take notice if you give us something (For either an Area OR an Event proposal!) more than 'I think an area of sea fae would be cool' - instead, 'I think an area involving a type of fae awoken from sea kelp would be really cool. They could live in the Inner Sea in a reef, and they could be led by one very powerful one. They could change shape regularly into a horse or a woman or even something random like a cow. They could collect sea shells, and then use the shells to make necklaces to protect the dolphins, which they could call like Sea Princes or Princes of the Sea or something. There could be a bad guy somewhere who wants the dolphins dead, so this will protect them from him. He could be a tainted or undead merian, maybe a historical figure, and could be trying to use them to take control of the seas or something. Maybe he could try to be taking control of the seas to search for some lost artifact that he wants that makes undead invincible - and if he succeeds, you need to help the kelpies weaken him and then kill him to sink his ship.'
Granted that's extremely ramble-y, however I think it serves my point. There's a broader description with more than just 'this would be cool', a general idea for a quest, and how one or two factions interact - and an idea for some story conflict (be it within a single faction or between two). Having some general notion of how it might be resolved isn't bad either!
I typed up two big examples of how to properly bullet-point a brief of a proposal, however this IPS error business made me lose it. So instead of typing up another one (woe is me!), I'll just say this: Any sort of proposal is best served having an overview of the entire proposal in bullet points. It makes it -a lot- easier for us to go through and comprehend. The logic is sound - if we like the overview, we'll read about anything to see more! And with logic like that, you know you want to bullet-point stuff!

I have a complaint about the Plots section. I posted a suggestion for the Shofangi learning, instead of "so and so teaches you the first lesson of Shofangi". That was months ago, and it STILL hasn't changed.

You can put bullet-points in newsposts?

Sure! It can get annoying (to do), but the easiest way is:
...* Celest's New Bath House
......* A tawdry young merian towel girl
......* A brutish merian woman named Inga to offer massages
.........* Needs players to bring her 'therapeutic' stones.
............* Pays 50 gold per stone
......* A lazy krokani lad to work the front desk
......* A sensuous dracnari masseuse
.........* Needs the player to go to Gaudiguch to get her massage oils from a certain shop
etc etc. Just how I'd do it if I had the spacing restrictions news posts like to enforce. Granted, we don't expect you to go into the detail of gold/xp rewards etc (that's always the easy part! We like to keep it for ourselves.)

Taking those suggestions from randoms who don't know about the guild would be a bad thing, so that's really a plus.

Just because it's posted doesn't mean we'll take it, just because we'll take it doesn't mean we will right away. Hey, it can be hit or miss.
I doubt it has anything to do with who posted them (I couldn't fathom a guess at the moment, I don't remember seeing them off-hand myself - but that's not something I generally handle, either!)

That's something I'd do with my patron, not via the Plots board, anyway.

Yes. Because I don't know anything about the shofangi, not having an alt in the guild, nor having one that actually holds a position in the guild. Silly me, I shouldn't have even suggested it to the divine that they work on something.
