I'm having a bit of the same problem. I find it's pretty easy to beat on knights (Unless they are demigods or above) but when it comes to monks I have major issues because our low KATA weight afflictions are laughable and tend to not be very good at afflicting folks to lead to a chain of usable afflictions on the way to killing.
I have found that our insta-kill is easy to pull off on the rare occasion my poisons, hits and otherwise have kept them busy with afflictions or proned, then I can normally pull it off. But other then that it's extremely hard to beat someone to death as a tahtetso. When I say someone I mean a combatant, not just some non-fighter, those are easy to kill for anyone with a system.
It's a bitch, but I'm trying out new things and if I learn any kick ass combo's, I'll be sure to pass them along.

Yeah, once you're chilling at 5 momentum, you can pretty much stay up there all day, unless you 1) lag or 2) get proned knocking you off form balance or etc..

It's the five finger death punch.
Narsrim used to kill people with the Harmony instakill. How screwed up is that?

That is a bitch to pull off with anyone with a sipper.

easy in group combat

This thread is laughable.
You've got instant mangles, double hemi, and easy windpipe locks, stacked on top of an unstoppable insta kill and you can't figure out how to kill someone?
I'll just go ahead and assure you that Tahtetso is in no way "underpowered."

Holy crap, I didn't even look at the harmonics insta kill! A harmonic monk and telepathic mage could be fun...Monk prone and the mage just mindblast which nicely effects everything...Then boom, deathtouch. I vote with Celina! Overpowered Not to mention Asmoth beat me up! Jeeeerk

Mangle = How does it hinder?
Easy windpipe lock = Not really, all you have to do is prone the monk and you're already writhed out of the grapple AND senso has to hit.
Double hemi = ?
unstoppable insta kill = yeah we know, we're trying NOT to use that.

Our insta-kill requires two back to back Katas without you proning or otherwise stopping us, and requires a minimum of 10 power, so we are tapped for however long it takes to get that back.
It's not easy, only if senso hits as Ruiku said. And I have no idea what a double hemi is. But I will experiment with mangle, I truthfully don't know what mangling does.

Mangles are effectively regeneration-cured broken legs, which means they take 4s apiece. You can give them with a double tahto to a single leg with raktiah'sho modifier.
Hemiplegy is smoke myrtle-cured, effectively either a broken arm/leg on one side or a pair of broken legs (depending upon what kind of hemi). You can give double side hemi with two bomir'raks, and you can do it again and again and again. Bomol'sho gives the lower body hemiplegy.
And if you do your instakill right, it's nigh unstoppable. Very few people will be able to stop you hitting them within that two and a half or so seconds, and if you've used severspine then nine tenths of the game can't do anything (I can think of psionics and possibly beast attacks, plus demesne if it's luckily timed). It's very very easy to pull off, and trying to argue that it's not because you need to pull off two attacks just makes you look bad.

And, wait, why does it require ten power? Unless Xiel's ABs are out of date, it can be done for no power cost. At 5 mo, do raktiah'sho, gahtiah'sho, tahto chest, tahto gut = 400 + 400 + 75 + 75 = 950 ka. This'll drop you to mo4, but Xiel's AB has gahtirak'sho at a measly 400 ka, and that's all you need. No boost, no power cost.
Unknown2009-08-06 08:45:06
You have too boost to mo5 and then boost an extra 500 for the 1500 for gahtirak'sho
Ilyarin2009-08-06 08:48:13
Talk to Lorick or Zalandrus. They seem to manage nicely.
Unknown2009-08-06 09:22:28
haha, just broke my own ice. Found a bunch of combos I wasn't paying attention to.
Also wondering about some good poison combinations.

That is way outta date. The only thing right there is the names.
You have to hit with the faltering heart thing, which lowers momentum, so if you're at five and you strike with it, you fall to four, so to get to level six on the next kata, you must boost it twice, to go from four to five to six and then hope they don't dodge, parry, move etc etc. Otherwise you wasted ten power for a slight bump on the chest.
Gahtiark'sho requires 1500 weight, or level six momentum.
Vathael2009-08-06 17:10:07
double hemi means if you hit double hemi and they dont have the myrtle in their pipe to heal they are green locked. also, did you know you cant stand with a single hemiplegy? use it to your advantage.
Vathael2009-08-06 17:13:20
wait, i guess you could allheale to heal an arm lock? not really sure, never thought of it in the circumstances i was hit with it.
