Hey-o,
So, I'm looking around myself, but I thought I'd throw it out to the community as well just in case someone had an idea of who I can talk to.
I'm currently in the process of getting my next tattoo concept ready for inking. While the tattoo artist him or herself will obviously design it a bit differently/give input on how it's going to look on skin, I'd like to go in with really what I want already in hand. Also, if I can stare at it for a bit, it'll let me know it's really what I want. However, I'm not artistic at all.
So, that being said, I'm shopping around for a good artist who has the time/will to do a commission for me. Price and payment method will be discussed with the artist, but I'm very open to ideas in both regards. Here's what I'm looking for:
1. Does NOT necessarily need to be a physical copy - a high quality scan or digital image is acceptable.
2. Must be able to complete within a reasonable amount of time. I'm looking at less than two months for sure.
3. Tattoo will most likely be done in black ink, so I only require a monochrome image. If the artist feels that a direction towards colour is more appropriate based off of what I'm looking for, I'll probably let them run with that if I feel they know what they're doing.
4. Must have experience and be fairly confident they can produce a good quality image out of the following concept:
A raven, wings spread, over a large nest as if he's getting ready to land in it. Either draped over the side of the nest, or perhaps woven into the nest, are five human bodies. There is a sixth body clutched in the raven's beak.
There is an alternate concept that I'm considering that keeps most of the same elements. I'm hoping that a chat with the artist will help me decide which is best. The secondary concept is a mass gallows, six bodies hanging dead, with a massive raven perched atop, profiled, feathers ruffled and cawing.
It's pretty basic in most regards. I'm keeping it open ended as far as style for now, as I'll want to see some sort of portfolio before I settle down on one artist. Based on that concept, I'm looking for an artist who:
1. Has experience with animal/bird/nature drawings. Knows the difference (or willing to look at references - I can help with this) between a raven and a crow. I'm looking for a Common Raven (Corvus Corax). If you google pictures of both a Common Raven and a Crow, you'll almost instantly notice the differences.
2. Has a good sense of proportion. The nest to the bird to the bodies. Obviously this is a big bird, as he's carrying around humans like kibbles and bits.
3. Is serious about their work. This is important to me, as it's going on my body forever, so I want someone who can appreciate that.
As I said, this is a serious offer, and I'm looking for serious candidates. If you think that you, the reader, are up for this or think you might know of someone who is, please do contact me via a forum pm with a contact email/phone number/web site, and we'll have ourselves a chat.
Thanks for your time!
