Novice Safety Measures

Idea 1: Hostilities

A city or commune's ruling council can declare hostilities against another city or commune. Declaring hostilities would have no outstandingly noticeable affect, but it would be more of a safety precaution for inexperienced players.

When hostilities are declared, and if someone has PK warning on (when Avechna warns a player about attacking another player) and is still considered "inexperienced" (IE: under level 30 or 40) they'll be warned if about to enter the territory of a potentially hostile group. A person will also be warned if the territory they're about to enter is hostile to them, but his/her council hasn't declared hostilities on the territory they're about to enter.

More then anything, it's just an early warning system to keep novices and from getting the crap beaten out of them.

Idea 2: Banish

A player with sufficient prestige in his or her city or commune (IE: Security or maybe cr5 and above) can safely banish a novice from his or her borders back to the novice's nexus of power with a friendly, but stern warning to the novice that they might not be welcome where they just were. To help the novice, anyone with the same privileges in the novice's home city or commune will be notified that one of their novices was just banished from hostile territory.

It would probably also save a few novices from being enemied for not knowing where they were/panicking when asked to leave and running farther in. Also would save annoyance to the organization's members from being unable to remove a novice from an opposing organization in their territory because they have Innocence and no Guides are about (for the younger ones).

These are actually pretty nifty ideas and would help younglings that are 100% new to the Lusternia world get a feel for borders, prompt them to ask questions, etc. All good things, and I can't really see any negatives from either of these.

For the novice removal, have the message be like guards finding them and throwing them out of the city, complete with proning them.

These ideas seem to me to be good. Of course, I'm also waiting for Magnagora to actually get some use out of their jail cells.

No, the guards load them into a cannon and fire the novice back to their org of origin.

So other orgs can throw novices out the area?

I see major problems with people able to remove others at will. Secondly I'm so snake I'm your father and you don't even know it. He's also my main in brawl.

So you're saying you're Big Boss? EVen worse! Marth FTW btw.

I've usually never had a problem with asking newbies to leave the area, giving them a friendly warning saying that they really don't belong at the area and perhaps they should leave. But I think it would be a nice thing to have, especially the warning. Since I know if I was a newbie all over again and had no idea the layout of the basin I'd be walking into serenwilde, etc. from just randomly walking the highways.

I'm sure you've implied this, but I just want to make sure, when you say hostile territories, do you mean the other organization's literal borders, or would you also include areas that are free reign, but tend to be claimed by the other organizations? The two Seas and Shallach come to off the top of my head. And what about Influential villages?

While I think it'd be nice to kick out novices who aren't actually new, but are simply trying to annoy people... I'm afraid I know of a few people who might be a bit trigger happy with the command and a few novices will find themselves being kicked out without so much as a warning.

Would have to be careful on who got this power. I'd say gr5 would be bad. Maybe limit it to college professors and chancellors.

I think the point that it would include an automatic, "the guards say, You're forbidden here! Do not enter under threat of MUCH PAIN!" then haul you off. Also, it would have to be literal boundaries only.

Actually, on reflection, I'd like the "entering hostile territory" alert available for everyone.
Shaddus2009-09-08 22:10:03
Let novices not get attacked by astral creatures.
Arix2009-09-08 22:24:35
I'm assuming the banish is for those annoying novices who go into enemy orgs under grace and piss everyone off, or moron alts like Sano/Soraka/Allison/Annabelle?
Mirami2009-09-09 01:03:31
-Add villages, too, but only for those under Innocence (that way it can't be an anti-slavery measure).
-I like the idea, although I think it shouldn't require 'hostilities' or some such.
-Chancellors/Greywalkers only would be fine, there's almost always one GA on, and we could pester them to banish; have the message sent to the CGTS aether that a novice has been banished, and by who- E.G.
CODE
<>"MagNovice has been banished from the Serenwilde Forest by AGreywalker."

Seems like a little too much to invest in undersecs/teachers, though, since they're usually the youngest of the appointed positions.

That sounds like a good compromise. Also, the banishment I think was only ever supposed to work on people with Innocence, because people without it can be ah... "dealt" with in more traditional methods. Besides, we don't want to discourage prime raiding any more than avenger already does!

You wish. Lucario sucks, but if you're beating a Marth with snake, they're doing it wrong.
